About this role

Introduction to the team: Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions

The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of the firm's index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver investment outcomes and ground-breaking alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels.

Why is your role important?

The role will form part of the EMEA Asset Owner CIO team, which is responsible for delivering whole portfolio solutions to family offices, official institutions, endowments and charities. As part of this team, you will mainly focus on mandates with official institutions and family offices and you will contribute to providing innovative investment solutions aligned with our clients' long-term investment objectives in the face of challenging markets and growing complexity.

What you will be doing?

  • Understand our clients' investment objectives and constraints and apply advanced portfolio construction and risk analytics to support investment decisions and portfolio outcomes
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc client materials and ensure these meet compliance practices
  • Supervise our client portfolios as a second set of eyes, gain an in-depth understanding of the portfolios and develop the ability to flag issues in portfolios. In time, get involved in client meetings directly
  • Support business development efforts through RFP responses and creation of presentation materials
  • Collaborate closely with our internal partners across the platform and client representatives to develop business opportunities
  • Perform analyses on a broad range of topics related to multi-asset class portfolio construction and asset allocation across public and private markets
  • Produce in-depth research on capital markets and various type of investments as well as on how to include these in our portfolios
  • Investigate and apply technology to improve and scale our existing portfolio construction processes.

Who are we looking for?
  • Financial market experience: Minimum of 3 years of financial services or asset management experience; good understanding of financial markets. Experience with official institutions and/or family offices is a plus
  • Analytical skills: A genuine inclination for quantitative analysis and the skills to work through sophisticated problems and challenges to provide innovative insights. Coding skills and/or knowledge of BlackRock systems are a plus
  • Problem-solving ability: Ability to deconstruct a larger problem into sub-components and prioritize. Organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize and multi-task quickly efficiently, adapting to new situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative approach: Great teammate who takes a collaborative and cooperative approach and has a positive working attitude
  • Communication skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to explain multifaceted topics to non-technical individuals in writing as well as verbally
  • Intellectual curiosity: Interested in the industry and looking to learn more about asset management, investment vehicles, and scale across BlackRock
  • Independent thinking: High level of self-motivation, able to own and drive multiple assignments at once and willing to respectfully debate the status quo
