Provide leadership to an internal staff comprised of Regional Sales Directors who support the life and disability income insurance sales effort by providing insurance product and strategy expertise. They do this by training on product and strategy along with initiating and/or responding to calls to/from Ameriprise Financial Advisors and their external wholesaling partners. Monitor and enhance the quality, compliance and effectiveness of sales support and/or the sales effort; preparing sales reports for management and work with internal business partners on marketing strategy and project initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Regional Sales Directors (internal wholesalers). Plan, allocate and monitor work to assure the attainment of department objectives; recommend appropriate staffing levels and make decisions regarding hiring, compensation and performance appraisals, coaching and training along with other personnel actions. Monitor and enhance the quality and effectiveness of sales efforts and assist in the development and delivery of sales training programs.
  • Work with Insurance leadership to develop the department's strategic plans, objectives and goals. In addition, partner with other insurance areas such as marketing, product development, new business, underwriting and service. Specifically, work with marketing to develop, review and execute the training/seminar materials and marketing pieces for wholesaling organization.
  • Coordinate training and sales activities with Vice President of Sales Consulting, Divisional Vice Presidents and Divisional Sales Directors to ensure teams are working effectively and efficiently. Arrange formal training or other experiences to foster learning and development.
  • Back up for the VP of Sales Consulting in maintaining key relationships with internal business partners such as annuities, financial planning, personal trust and other Ameriprise departments that support the high-net-worth client strategy. Actively monitor legal and tax developments that may affect the company's insurance products, strategies and/or services.
  • Drive a culture of compliance, including ongoing monitoring, coaching and feedback. Complete required coursework in order to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and licenses.
  • Supervises registered representatives required to have the SERIES 6 or 7 to perform their jobs (e.g., employees or financial advisors requiring SERIES 6, 7).


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience (4-years)
  • Series 6
  • Series 63/66
  • Resident Insurance License (Health, Life & Variable) - or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Series 24 or 26 - or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • 7 to 10 years relevant experience
  • 5+ years of industry related experience with at least 2 years of insurance field sales or insurance sales desk experience.
  • Ability to lead, coach, mentor and develop sales professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance company products and services.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CFP, CLU, ChFC
  • In-depth technical knowledge on estate, business and charitable planning as well as general financial planning.
