The Junior Fixed Income Trader role will be part of the principal fixed income trading desk within the Wealth Management Solutions business group. This role will become a subject matter expert on UIT (Unit Investment Trust) product features and all aspects of the internal UIT trading platform. The junior trader will commit capital trading UITs with the potential expansion to other fixed income securities over time, and will work closely with senior traders on offering fixed income securities and maintaining very high accuracy rates and industry contacts. In addition, this role will perform interest rate and credit analysis, monitor market conditions to keep aligned with trading strategy, and ensure compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Unit Investment Trust (UIT) security subject matter expert and oversee the UIT trading platform. Buy, sell, complete rollovers, offering and order taking of the UIT product.
  • Commit capital on UIT product and to generate profit through fixed income trading. Increase sales and promotion of UIT product internally.
  • Ensure compliance to all internal policies and FINRA regulatory requirements.
  • Execute on internal order flow for assigned asset class, ensuring we are analyzing current market volatility to optimize execution price.
  • Provide support and subject matter expertise to the field in responding to questions and advanced issues.
  • Provide consultation to advisors, product specialists, portfolio strategists, analysts on sophisticated market topics, and weekly market detail for assigned asset class.
  • Build strong rapport and relationships with securities dealers to stay current on new/innovative products, market trends and industry information. Work to improve Trading Desk technology and efficiency and strive toward department strategic goals.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years' relevant experience
  • Active Series 7
  • Active State securities agent registration (S63 or S66) or the ability to obtain within 120 days of hire date
  • Thorough understanding of the financial markets with an understanding of how markets are made.
  • Strong product knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate strong strategic thought leadership when navigating economic conditions
  • Ability to perform in a highly stressful, time sensitive and regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail
