The Senior Director for Alternative Investment Due Diligence role is part of the Wealth Management Solutions business group and provides strategic thought leadership on the investment review of Alternative Investments. This role will focus on coordinating the processes and standards for reviews of prospective, current, and former alternative investments offerings on the Ameriprise platform; providing leadership to a team of due diligence professionals; and conducting individual due diligence reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction to alternative investment due diligence processes as well as partner with IRG (Investment Research Group) Due Diligence and Alternative Investment Product Management to determine product review calendar and assign team resources appropriately.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the development of advisor training and education and ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory rules.
  • Lead initial and ongoing investment due diligence reviews for direct alternative investment products, including conducting on-site visits, reviewing questionnaires, reviewing offering documents and annual reports, and assessing performance reports and other ongoing monitoring.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports incorporating performance management practices through individual performance plans, periodic reviews and feedback sessions, coaching and development.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 10 years financial services experience including in investment and research
  • Minimum of 3 years people leadership experience
  • Expert knowledge on alternative investments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with assigned product including understanding of compliance rules and regulations for product and industry
  • Active Series 7


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • CFA charterholder
  • Experience with Microsoft Access or other modeling skills
