Salary Range: $68.38 - $96.94 / hourly; $142,777 - $202,410 / annually

Telework Eligible: Yes, up to 3 days per week; will be expected to work in office as needed during the first six (6) months of employment

 

About the Opportunity:

The Investment Officer will work as part of the Minnesota State Board of Investment’s (SBI) Internal Cash Desk – a small team within the larger SBI organization consisting of a long-tenured SBI Investment Officer and investment operational support staff.  The Internal Cash Desk is responsible for conducting day-to-day trading of fixed income securities, formulating portfolio positioning in accordance with return and risk objectives, and executing the strategy across the Invested Treasurer’s Cash Pool, Debt Service and other accounts.  The position will conduct fixed income credit research in support of the Desk’s approved issuer list and prepare and present written reports to the larger SBI team.  The Officer will also evaluate investment portfolio performance and contribute to portfolio risk management and process improvement efforts.  In addition to the Cash Desk team, the incumbent will work with other investment staff across the SBI.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications –

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience as an analyst, researcher, consultant or similar position within finance or investment setting.
  • Experience with investment related analytical tools including Bloomberg, FactSet, eVestment, or Morningstar.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel.
  • Successful completion or pursuit of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program will be required of the successful applicant within the first twelve (12) months of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications –

  • Advanced level degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience with public pension and state Treasury issues and practices.
  • Experience with investment strategies across fixed income markets.
