The Americas agriculture pricing team is dynamic and responsible for key pricing benchmarks across the region.

The Impact: We are seeking a Managing Editor of biofuels and sugar for the Americas Agriculture team based in Houston. This is an exciting opportunity to drive S&P Global Commodity Insights biofuel and sugar price assessments across the Americas as well as develop and oversee new assessments in this space. The successful candidate will have excellent people and time management skills, and advanced experience of market reporting and publishing. The candidate will also have experience in developing and applying pricing methodologies and must be able to serve externally as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage team performance, coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Work well in collaboration with senior leaders, showing strong individual leadership and assuming considerable responsibility for the delivery of essential benchmark market pricing and coverage.
  • Ensure that emerging market issues that might require further investigation and potential methodology adjustments are highlighted and acted upon in an appropriate time frame
  • Lead market coverage on a daily basis in the relevant market(s), following trading activity and ensuring that day to day assessment processes are applied correctly.
  • Assist with coverage in other markets as necessary.
  • Produce regular in-depth analytical/enterprise articles.
  • Monitor and drive team's news and market reporting activities, ensuring timely coverage of events.
  • Understand relevance of information to the customer and facilitate the development of value-add news/information through multiple channels. This includes real-time alerts, video and audio platforms, features and weekly publications, both in print and online.
  • Ensure copy and commentary is accurate, aligned with pricing data and assessments and enforce any required approval process.
  • Facilitate a healthy flow of communication between the People Leaders and the team.
  • Serve externally as a subject matter expert by representing Platts at industry events and face-to-face meetings with market participants to drive market adoption.
  • Collaborate with the Agriculture Analytics and News teams.
What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years' experience of global commodity markets.
  • Strong communication skills that demonstrate good listening, clear writing style, and strong verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
  • Strong numeracy skills; an understanding of the basic principles of algebra and statistics; as well as a strong ability to apply basic math functions in Excel.
  • Strong leadership ability and influencing skills, promoting team collaboration, development, and personal accountability.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-starter mindset with effective problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A solid understanding of economics and risk management principles.
  • An ability to multitask and prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Additional Portuguese language skills would be an advantage.
  • Degree in Agronomics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business or similar.
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is
$85,700.00 to $120,400.00
Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
