We offer our clients a wide range of strategic and financial advisory services, including M&A and capital-raising activities, divestitures, financial restructurings, underwriting and distributing equity, debt and derivative securities. In addition, we provide coverage across Citi's entire Institutional Client Group (ICG) offering, including Markets, Securities Services, Treasury and Trade Services, and Issuer Services. FIG focuses on clients in the following sectors globally: Pension Funds, Asset Management, Banks, Financial Technology and Insurance.

The Head of FIG Corporate Banking Germany is a leadership position responsible for implementing Citi's global strategy to be the best for our clients and achieving market leadership across our ICG offering; delivering results through senior client relationships as trusted advisers; effective management and development of the FIG Corporate Banking team; co-ordination with product partners and other stakeholders; oversight of risks, controls and the effective deployment of Citi's capital. The Head of FIG of Corporate Banking Germany will also have direct client management responsibility.

Corporate finance, risk and capital management skills, a strategic ICG mindset and execution focus are critical abilities to succeed in this role. The franchise comprises a portfolio of Germany-based financial institutions companies offering an attractive level of revenues and a potential for future growth.

This role will report to the Germany Head of Corporate Banking and matrix to the DACH Head of FIG Corporate Banking. This role will be based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and monitor a client-driven franchise growth algorithm, which is delivered through people, client and franchise management
  • Understand market trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
  • In addition to direct client relationship responsibility, the role carries the responsibility for management of a team of FIG Corporate Bankers. Together with this team and product and risk partners, manage overall client relationships and provide a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions across the ICG offering, as well as support advisory efforts by building and maintaining Trusted Advisor relationship with client seniors
  • Drive client planning, client access, product agnostic cross-selling and effective capital allocation within the Institutional Client Group's (ICG) Coverage Banker proposition
  • Translate Citi's strategy into an effective and efficient FIG Corporate Bank business plan and drive a healthy balance between near-term and long-term priorities
  • Meet revenue goals and other goals related to budget, risk management and credit allocation in partnership with Global Capital Management (GCM) and Risk
  • Drive innovation, speed to market and cross-selling of products across the full ICG platform
  • Partner with Investment Banking (locally and regionally) to drive and execute episodic transactions and with key stakeholders, including GCM and Risk, to allocate capital prudently, appropriately and in adherence with all Citi policies
  • Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards, including stringent ethical standards and anticipated future changes in the marketplace
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; adhering to Policy; and, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices
  • Escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency; as well as, effectively supervising the activity of the broad team and establishing accountability for those who fail to maintain these standards
  • Develop talent, actively participate in recruiting and provide on-the-job training, while providing leadership and vision for the FIG CB Germany franchise
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of extensive relevant banking and sector experience
  • Experience in people management
  • Business Senior Credit Officer preferred
  • Strong corporate finance skills
  • In-depth experience advising clients on debt and capital management, markets solutions and other strategic solutions across the ICG offering
  • Demonstrated ability to balance between internal management and external client time
  • Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues and regulatory requirements
  • Proven leadership skills and intellectual capability to create momentum and a collective agenda across multiple products with a diverse population and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated intellectual grasp of the industry and ability to anticipate and lead our response to future changes and translate vision into executable plans
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Conversational German language skills preferred
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree from a top economics, business, or financial engineering program or equivalent experience
This Role is a "Controlled Function" Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.
