As a Barclays EMEA Equities Electronic Trading Quant, you will be responsible for algorithms and model based business logic used in electronic trading in Markets, Data Science applied to trading and sales activities. The primary purpose of the SM&D Equities group is to design, implement and operate execution algorithms for Equities markets.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.
What will you be doing?
• Extracting information from the world of data available
• Building optimal strategies for execution of orders and optimal routing for accessing liquidity available in the markets
• Analysing Algo interactions with Systematic Internalizers and other liquidity sources
• Conducting independent research on topics relevant for Equities Algo trading in EMEA
• Understanding and improving documentation of new and existing models used in Algos
• Conducting microstructure analysis to ensure algorithms are fit for the specified markets
• Running and enhancing the post trade analytics to affirm trading algorithms are following best execution
• Supporting and improving calibration processes for our models
What we're looking for:
• PhD, Masters' degree or equivalent in a technical discipline such as statistics, computer science, mathematics, physics, quantitative finance, operations research or similar
• Logical thinking, problem solving, mathematical and programming skills (Q and Python are required, C++ and JAVA are a plus)
• Understanding of econometrics, statistics and machine learning tools
• Proven experience working with algorithmic trading systems.
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Previous experience in cutting edge technologies to benefit the firm's digital eco system and franchise
• Proven ability to independently generate and pursue research topics
• Ability to multitask and work in a dynamic environment individually or as part of a team
• Solid communication skills and team-orientation

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
