About this role

BlackRock's Alternatives business is looking for an Associate to join the Macro Credit Research team. The role involves working closely with the Head of Macro Credit Research to 1) form and articulate investment views across global corporate credit, 2) build and maintain models to track fundamentals and relative value across key macro credit indices, and 3) write differentiated and thoughtful research for distribution to internal stakeholders and external clients.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with the Head of Macro Credit Research to create differentiated, written content focused on global credit markets, including investment grade and high yield bonds, leveraged loans and private debt.
  • Build and maintain analytical models and charts to track fundamentals and relative value across key global macro credit indices (leverage, coverage, valuations, absolute and beta-adjusted returns, spreads/yields, percentile analysis, default forecasts).
  • Follow events related to credit markets closely, including but not limited to central bank policies, economic indicators, debt issuance trends, corporate earnings, and fund flows.
  • Leverage all available data sources to identify dislocations/investment opportunities, and flag new ideas for original research content.
  • Assist in the creation of regular research publications and presentation materials.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders, including portfolio managers, traders, product strategy and marketing teams.
  • Respond to requests for data from internal stakeholders.


Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
  • 2-4 years of experience with global corporate credit markets, including investment grade, high yield, and leveraged loans. Previous experience as a credit research strategist on the buy-side or sell-side is a plus.
  • A passion for investing and markets.
  • Understanding of fixed income markets and bond valuation.
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfort with analyzing large data sets. Programming skills are a plus.
  • Solid writing skills.
  • Collaborative self-starter, eager to learn.
  • Ability to understand, internalize and execute on the team's goals and objectives, while working around the inevitable obstacles.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities / deadlines.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting.
  • Progress towards CFA designation a plus.


For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $118,750 - $140,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
