Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Analyst or Manager level candidate to join our growing Capital team in Australia to assist the team with the management of the existing portfolio, as well as provide analytical support on the execution of new transactions.
Our Capital business provides asset backed, structured capital, whether it be debt or other forms, to Australian corporate borrowers primarily seeking transitional or transformational capital to fund and support turnaround, restructure or growth.
This role will report into the Managing Director of Capital and be based in our Sydney or Melbourne office and cover our Australia and New Zealand activities.

Job Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
Portfolio Management
- Support the Capital team in providing oversight and ongoing management of existing borrowers.
- Analyse financial statements of portfolio investments and summarize key metrics / changes.
- Monitor existing borrowers compliance with financial reporting obligations and financial covenants, as well as other obligations included in the financial documents.
- Assist with compiling and updating borrowing base computations (based on appraised values of various asset classes: inventory, machinery & equipment, intellectual property, real estate, and accounts receivable).
- Write in-depth periodic reports (weekly, monthly or quarterly) for review by senior management and Investment Committee.
- Regularly review company and industry related news and developments through public and subscribed search capabilities.
- Participate in communication with borrowers, other lenders, consultants, and legal counsel.
- Provide analytical support to senior management members in the discussion/negotiation of amendments/restructurings of portfolio investments.
Transactional
- Undertake financial and commercial due diligence / audit of client's asset base, financials, systems and processes to interrogate and verify data upon which Gordon Brothers transactions are based on. Outputs will include the compiling of borrowing bases and fully integrated financial models with scenario optionality, valuation models and exit planning models, which form the basis of Gordon Brothers bids for new business.
- Contribute to Investment Committee submissions, providing background details to the due diligence process and building a case for Gordon Brothers transactions.
- Assist with the loan and investment facility documentation execution process, as well as subsequent portfolio management processes to ensure all onboarding is completed.
People
- Work as an integral team player within the business and effectively contribute to the development of the Capital business.
- Act externally as an ambassador for Gordon Brothers in Australia.
Education, Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other highly quantitative degree required.
- Advanced degree / qualifications (MBA, CPA, CA, CFA) preferred.
- 4 or more years of experience in the financial services industry.
- Must be an Australian permanent resident.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong analytical, risk management and problem-solving skills with financial modelling capabilities.
- Self-motivated and works well independently, as well as part of a team and across all organisational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important.
- Strong communication, excellent written and verbal skill set, able to present information clearly, persuasively and credibly.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
