The opportunity The Analyst, Value Creation & Analytics (VCA) will play a key role in the INR Investment Team by delivering performance reporting, valuations and portfolio construction activities across our global portfolio of more than 60 privately held investments. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to deliver investment analyses and reporting to senior leadership teams including the CIO and the OTPP Board of Directors. The position requires taking a big picture perspective to develop analytics and insights at the portfolio level and provide the INR team with enhanced decision-making tools and capabilities to deliver on its strategy. You will drive efficiencies and enhancements to INR's business, particularly in investment valuations, operational risk-monitoring and portfolio-level forecasting. In addition, you will overlay portfolio construction-related analytics into the INR investment decision-making framework. You will also actively analyze reporting from INR's Portfolio Companies to create a robust performance profile of the global portfolio for both INR Senior Management and internal partners across the Fund including the CIO-led investment committees and the OTPP Board of Directors. Furthermore, the Analyst, VCA - Analytics will build strong relationships both within the INR team and with departments across the Fund to ensure high quality information-sharing between INR and other internal partners and coordinate our team's participation in the Fund's internal initiatives. Who you'll work with You will join a collaborative group of investment professionals with a collegial team culture and an established track record of strong performance in a $40 billion investment portfolio (as of June 30, 2022). You will report to the Director, VCA - Analytics and directly support the Associate, VCA - Analytics as well as senior Investment Team members across sectors and geographic regions which will provide numerous opportunities to learn and grow your skills and experience. What you'll do Act as a trusted thought partner to the INR Executive Managing Director and the INR Senior Leadership team. Develop strong relationships with functional partners in Finance, Risk, and the Total Fund Management team, and other investing departments. Partner and communicate effectively with the broader team to ensure that appropriate parties are kept informed and engaged on VCA-led initiatives Work with asset teams to prepare high-quality reports to the CIO-led Committees and the OTPP Board Prepare investment performance reports to help the Executive Managing Director manage the business Coordinate and deliver INR's strategic plans, scorecards, budgets and portfolio company diversity metrics Plan, refine and improve reporting to ensure timely and optimal decisions at internal committee meetings Work with Finance to plan, schedule and deliver semi-annual valuations of our investment portfolio Review valuations prepared by asset teams for technical consistency and reasonableness of conclusions Manage the valuation process to ensure timely delivery of high-quality valuations and a smooth process Work with INR Investment Associates to analyze and forecast the performance of existing and potential assets and the overall portfolio by conducting analyses of cash flows and returns Collaborate with the Risk group to analyze risk models and gather key insights on portfolio risk attributes Conduct investment analysis for INR Senior Management to inform decisions on portfolio target weights by sector, geography, return type, etc. Serve as key liaison between INR and Total Fund Management, Risk, Finance, Internal Audit and Compliance Act as INR's advocate and representative on all internal operating and governance initiatives Lead, coordinate and deliver INR responses to Fund-wide initiatives Lead evolution of internal operations to ensure best practices, efficiency and to facilitate our global business What you'll need Minimum of one to three years of progressive experience in valuations, finance, accounting, and financial analysis University graduate preferably in business, economics, finance or a related field Professional qualifications (CPA, CFA, CBV) preferred Strong financial modeling, technical and data management skills Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a knack for performing in-depth, critical analysis and an ability to step back and "tell the story" Strong knowledge of private asset valuations and concepts of risk Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills Project management and facilitation skills Exceptional prioritization skills Knowledge of productivity tools including PowerBI an asset Proven track record of building constructive relationships across organizational boundaries
