Who you'll work with The OTPP Credit team is growing and includes over thirty investment professionals globally who invest in a full spectrum of credit products, employing a variety of investment styles, including deep-dive fundamental analysis (public and private), enhanced indexing, quantitative strategies, structured and thematic investing, as well as fund investments. The Director will also provide support to adjacent sectors within Structured Credit (such as SRTs and CLOs) as needed. What you'll do Drive and grow the Consumer Specialty Finance / ABS business line with strategic vision, conviction, and entrepreneurial spirit. Develop and build out all necessary frameworks required to invest in this space in a consistent, thoughtful and balanced manner. Source, structure and execute accretive transactions that are consistent with those frameworks. Originate differentiating ideas, source opportunities, and demonstrate sound judgment and market acumen in deal selection and prioritization. Grow and strengthen strategic relationships with relevant external parties including originators, financing providers and arrangers, and potential co-investing partnerships. Contribute to OTPP's visibility and reputation as a distinguished partner of choice in structured credit market. Take ownership in the full deal execution process from commercial negotiation, structuring, due diligence, committee presentation, to documentation and closing. Conduct post transaction monitoring and surveillance: undertake portfolio management duties and portfolio construction/optimization exercises. Support further growth of our SRT strategy by leveraging and enhancing existing analytical framework, improving sourcing and underwriting capacity and staying informed of important developments in the space. Conduct high-level monitoring and screening for other esoteric ABS asset classes such as commercial assets, royalties, etc. Advance the ESG framework for the team in alignment with Teachers' Responsible Investing and Climate Strategy Perpetuate Teachers' 3.0 values: Inclusive, Performance-driven, Curious, Agile and Courageous. Contribute to a high-performance, collaborative and team-oriented work environment. What you'll need 8+ years of proven experience with substantial direct institutional investing experience or exposure in structured credit with a significant of portion within consumer credit related assets, which may include mortgages, auto loans/leases, credit cards and other unsecured consumer credits. Bachelor degree in relevant field is required. Graduate degree in business, finance or a related field; CFA designation is an asset Priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a proven track record of sourcing differentiated opportunities and turning them into successful transactions. Deep knowledge and thorough understanding of the consumer specialty finance / ABS space, including all key risk and return drivers. Strong analytical capability: must be confident and comfortable with performing in-depth and hands-on quantitative modelling and analysis. Experienced in leading the end to end deal transaction from sourcing to close. Experience with negotiating financing arrangements (such as warehouse) and/or structuring securitization is a plus. Having a successful track-record of institutional risk-taking is also a plus. Strong demonstration of passion for developing and growing a business, as well as integrity, high-performance, entrepreneurial spirit.
