Investment Analyst – Summer Intern
Undergraduate | Graduate
Who we are
The Permanent School Fund corporation (Texas PSF) manages a $55 billion dollar investment portfolio that generates funding for K-12 public schools in Texas. The work we do has a direct, positive impact. Since 1960, we’ve distributed more than $32.9 billion to help fund public education.
Our team of investment and operations professionals manages and supports a sophisticated portfolio that encompasses a variety of asset classes, including public equities, private equity, venture capital, real estate, hedge funds, and fixed income. We invest both directly (internally managed portfolios) and through external fund managers. Our risk management team runs a comprehensive program to monitor, analyze, and advise the endowment on a holistic level. Never static, we’re continually improving and evolving to deliver on our mission of generating superior long-term investment returns.
The Opportunity
We are looking for candidates at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. As an Investment Analyst Summer Intern, you’ll learn the institutional LP/allocator landscape from an established, long-term endowment with a growing asset base. As part of a seasoned team of investment professionals, you’ll be able to immediately contribute to our mission by monitoring, researching, and analyzing investments and markets. Through the summer internship, you’ll work with at least two teams (public equities, private equity, real estate, hedge funds, fixed income, and risk management) and you’ll have exposure to investment decision makers from day one. You will also work on group projects with your entire intern class and have the opportunity to interact with and present to senior leadership. Dedicated mentors from each team will guide you through the internship.
It is an exciting time to join Texas PSF as we transition from being a division of the Texas Education Agency to an independent investment corporation. You’ll have the opportunity to work in, live in, and enjoy Austin for 10 weeks.
This is a paid internship.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Participate in the analysis and oversight of internally managed portfolios.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of investment due diligence, investment analysis, and performance measurement technology platforms and systems.
- Monitor performance of private, public, and crossover market investments.
- Assist in the maintenance of investment due diligence files and deal flow databases.
- Work on ad hoc projects, ranging from in depth research to producing white papers for the respective asset classes and teams.
A successful candidate should ideally have these qualifications
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate/graduate at an accredited four-year college or university in your penultimate or final year.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher while majoring in General Business, Accounting, Finance, Math/Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or Engineering. Other degrees may be considered.
- Strong interest in financial markets, investments, risk analytics, and/or the application of a quantitative skillset within the space.
- Experience with financial analysis and software applications, including advanced use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, and Word).
- A strong desire to learn and contribute in a challenging field.
