The Role:

We are working to make saving and investing simple, rewarding and reassuring whilst making an impact for the better. You will be part of a team that is designing digital experiences for and with our 6 million plus users in over 26 countries around the world. The Digital teams's main goal is to drive our transformation to a digitally enabled and experientially driven organisation that not only delivers on the expectations of our users but delights them in the process.

Today we have almost 20 cross-functional teams working across 4 portfolios to make this happen. The portfolios covers our private, professional and institutional clients, internal users and cross cutting elements of our digital experience platform. Whilst each portfolio has a longer term vision we move this forward at pace through quarterly missions focused on clear objectives and key results. As a Senior Product Owner you will manage a major area of one of these portfolios which could mean focusing on a key user need, journey, launch of a new product or major set of new functionality. As part of this you may need to manage 1-2 other Product Owners.

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Collaboration with your proposition, distribution, operations and marketing colleagues in the delivery of business outcomes
  • Ability to understand the wider business strategy and direction and put new features into appropriate context ensuring key decisions are taken or escalated where appropriate
  • Accountable for the management of your part of the portfolio backlog, scope and prioritisation
  • Set direction to multiple feature team enabling them to operate efficiently through clear and timely decision
  • Responsible for leading the design of features that meet clearly identified customer need and business outcomes
  • Responsible for ensuring business benefit of your features is understood, measured and delivered
  • Responsible for ensuring the solution is appropriately tested with users
  • Day to day management of your Product Owner team
  • Ability to positively promote the work of the teams across the broader organisation
  • Contribute to the development of our product management approach increasing the awareness of the capability across the business

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Essential:
  • You have launched successful external or internal facing software products
  • You have experience with the end to end product management lifecycle for across web and mobile
  • You are obsessed with attention to detail and making sure your solutions meet genuine customer problems
  • You can lead through influence and champion the work that you and your teams delivers throughout the business
  • You can set direction to a team but are also comfortable being challenged on this in a collaborative manner
  • You have a track record of quickly establishing yourself within a new industry to understand the needs of users and the opportunities to meet these
  • You can demonstrate how you measure the success of a digital product and how new functionality will make an impact.
  • You have sufficient technical knowledge to understand and debate solutions and sizing of work
  • You have experience of a range of agile development methodologies and tool

Desirable:
  • Whilst experience within our industry is not essential it helps to have a background in:
  • Our target customers
  • Life and pensions products, markets and competitors
  • Asset management, markets and competitors
  • Financial services regulatory frameworks
  • M&G products, systems and distribution methods
  • Product Management certification
  • Relevant degree
