The Core PM SMA Team sits within BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group and plays a central role in that purpose. We partner with investment teams within BlackRock and manage Separately Managed Account (SMA) implementation and model portfolio delivery to BlackRock's partners. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for an Assistant Product Strategist position to join our team in the Princeton, NJ office!

Why is your role important?

As an Assistant Product Strategist for the SMA business, you will be working on representing the SMA platform and investment strategies, crafting responses to all types of information flow and requests. This will include assisting in completing Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), white papers, sponsor platform quarterly and annual reporting requirements and other types of investment data reports. The successful candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of our suite of SMA offerings, including equity, multi-asset, fixed income, mutual funds and ETFs.

You will also need to have excellent skills to automate the gathering of information utilizing internal BlackRock tools such as Explore and Tableau. Additionally, you will need exceptional communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships and work across the organization. You will need a proven history of working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative environment. In addition to having a passion for markets and investing, a successful candidate will bring robust technology and problem-solving skills to help develop and drive efficiencies and automation.

What will you be doing?
  • Assist and work alongside Product Strategist for Core PM SMA Team; to support product strategy functions for SMA strategies for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop an understanding of the investments, performance and risk positioning of the SMA product suite.
  • Support Product Strategist in handling product strategist activities including queries on RFIs, RFPs, Due Diligence Questionnaires, and sponsor portal data. Complete a wide variety of ad hoc partner and client requests and strive to deliver an outstanding level of client service.
  • Provide ongoing business support as directed in the pursuit of business growth, including gathering competitive intel, supporting product launch activities, partnering with internal Relationship Manager teams, and creating business strategy materials and presentations
  • Further develop our automated client reporting functions and reports for our SMA strategies, in collaboration with investment teams; as well as seek to leverage the capabilities of other internal BLK partners and data applications, while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Be responsive to client requests and queries, including supporting often very complicated and deep due diligence processes.
  • Work alongside internal partners for new investment strategy and/or new distribution relationships launches


What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Data Science, or Business/Finance; seeking strong quantitative Fintech skills.
  • Financial services experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of the asset management industry, investment metrics, and capital markets
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel, Power Point; database skills essential; Bloomberg and other market data systems useful; Python and SQL a plus.
  • Organized and detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player, ability to form meaningful working partnerships, with a collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks.
  • Demonstrated record of flexibility, responsiveness, and self-starting personality with a proven track record to innovate.
