About this role

Financial Markets Advisory business delivers a range of advisory services including capital markets, portfolio construction, sustainability and data & analytics solutions to official sector and financial institution clients globally, including banks and insurance companies. We support our clients on their most critical and complex financial issues - from managing the low carbon transition of the economy and financial sector, to unwinding portfolios of assets, to crafting and executing bond purchase programs to support the economy. We leverage the firm's sophisticated capital markets, sustainability, data analytics, and technology capabilities, to deliver impact-oriented advisory services, while maintaining an information barrier from the rest of the firm. Our professionals work out of all three BlackRock regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC), allowing us to serve clients in all locations and respond to their needs as they arise.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will leverage BlackRock's unparalleled capabilities across Sustainability, Capital Markets, Aladdin (incl. Aladdin Climate), and Research functions and will engage with various financial institutions, regulators, central banks, and governments providing advisory services to institutions in both public and private sector. This role will allow you to build strong technical, quantitative development and leadership skills by working on complex and innovative client projects. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for:
  • Lead a team of 2-3 professionals working across implementation & maintenance of tools/models for the team in India
  • Lead/develop a small team of developers supporting various projects by leading and contributing to the delivery of analytical solutions for recurring and ad-hoc client engagements
  • Leverage and develop technology, including BlackRock proprietary technology, to create and enhance frameworks for analytical analysis, quality control and client deliverables using various languages like Python, R & SQL
  • Apply quality software engineering practices including design principles through all phases of development and into production
  • Design robust architecture/solution suitable for large scale dataset and provides flexibility to user for what-if analysis, actively presenting and discussing it with project leads
  • Experience using/developing risk analytical systems/tools/infrastructure
  • Enforce BlackRock's fiduciary culture of providing the highest quality service and work product to our clients
  • Collaboration with global engagement managers and project team on overall project execution and content creation
  • Work in close partnership with FMA leadership including senior management, business development leads and practice areas heads


Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in software engineering in any coding language preferably Python
  • Exposure to quantitative development building tools/infrastructure to support financial modeling/analysis
  • Ability to lead & execute projects related to data-driven analytical projects utilizing programming languages like python and tools with a track record of outstanding achievements on data engineering, and model implementation
  • Ability to write/develop and understand complex financial algorithms/statistical models with minimal supervision
  • Coding mindset - someone who loves to code and is flexible to quickly switch from one technology to other. Technologies that we work on - Python, VBA, SQL, R. Programming skills are important since quant/analytical rigor is the secret sauce of our advisory services
  • Strong understanding of data structures/architecture, object-oriented concepts, design patterns, and fundamental software design principles, software development best practices and associated tools
  • Understanding of financial institutions, fixed income assets, and capital markets, sustainability etc. is desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and, intellectual curiosity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear messages
  • Strong quantitative and technical skills, including knowledge of and passion for finance, markets and/or sustainability concepts
  • Bachelors/Masters in a relevant technical discipline: Computer Science; Math; Engineering from top tier institutes

Our hybrid work model
