Ameriprise Financial's General Counsel's Organization is looking to hire an attorney to provide legal support on Front Office (Investments) matters. This position will support both the Columbia Threadneedle Investments brand and the enterprise and its business lines. The role is mainly focused on the North America business but the team is global and there will be exposure to global matters. The role involves contract, regulatory and project work.

Responsibilities

This role will support:

• Day to day support of Columbia Threadneedle Investments' global front office matters, including investment support in the areas of fixed income, secondary loan trading, private equity and private debt, as well as assistance with legal and regulatory issues arising from trading and/or research matters

• Negotiation of agreements with third-party vendors, counterparties, trading platforms, brokers and other third parties

• Support of various asset management products and initiatives, including regulatory change, material non-public information compliance efforts and product launches

Required Qualifications

• 1-5 years relevant experience
• Experience managing outside counsel effectively
• Strong attention to detail, organization and ability to successfully manage several ongoing assignments
• Ability to work independently and proactively, to multi-task and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, writing and problem-solving skills
• Strong collaboration skills and dedicated team player are essential
• Ability to establish credibility and build strong collaborative relationships internally and externally
• JD or equivalent
• Knowledge of federal securities laws, including the Securities Act of 1933, Securities Exchange Act of 1934, Investment Advisers Act of 1940, and the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the rules thereunder, is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of experience with the financial services industry, in particular broker-dealers, investment advisers, asset management, and/or insurance, and applicable laws and regulations.

New York Residents Only: The estimated base salary for this role is $115,610-$156,090 / year. Base salaries are determined in part based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
