Role
The Strategy & Consulting team within M&G Operations provides an internal consulting service to the Investment business to support the delivery of strategic objectives. As part of this specialist team, you will work with business leaders to capture market opportunities and solve complex problems in an environment that is constantly evolving. You will help generate new ideas, assess their feasibility, analyse requirements, design strategic operating models and deliver impactful change that creates value-add customer outcomes and drives business growth.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and highly motivated experienced consultant, with a strong track record of design and delivery, adept at building effective relationships with business customers and peers to understand the internal and external environment, working flexibly to meet challenging deadlines and providing outputs of the highest standard.

W e are looking for candidates who are passionate in helping deliver strategy and consulting projects that make a real difference to our clients.

The role will work alongside leaders in our Investment business, driving a range of consultancy assignments and activities that can include:

Strategy
  • Understanding current capabilities and challenges across people, process, data, governance, and technology
  • Developing an understanding of our business ambitions and strategic direction, and facilitating and supporting the definition of functional strategy through working with relevant business stakeholders
  • Research on key industry trends, regulatory landscape and market analysis to understand the external context and relative positioning and maturity of capabilities versus peers

Consultancy, Analysis, and Change Delivery
  • Leading target operating model design across people, process, governance, data, and technology in support of growth, customer outcomes, scalability, and risk control
  • Designing and leading workshops and interviews with key business representatives to understand current and future business needs and develop options and solutions
  • Developing implementation proposals - plan, resourcing, cost, phasing, and timeline
  • Developing business cases on the cost benefit of the target operating model and recommendations
  • Creation of high quality and impactful presentations and reports to effectively communicate findings and recommendations

Skills & Competencies
  • Highly skilled in developing and leading solution and feasibility proposals and presentations
  • Excellence in analysis of strategic requirements
  • Ability to articulate problems, ideas, concepts and solutions to stakeholders
  • Ability to understand complexity and design solutions to a tight deadline
  • A creative, flexible and collaborative approach across multiple levels of the organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Confidence in ability to advise and influence at a senior level
  • Good understanding of the investment management lifecycle and financial instruments that funds invest in - public assets, private and alternative investments
  • In depth knowledge of the key trends, markets, and regulatory changes shaping the asset management industry
  • In depth knowledge of the key participants and their role in the asset management value chain

Mandatory Experience Required
  • Minimum 5 years consulting experience derived from an asset manager, consulting or professional services firm
  • Experience in leading target operating model design and solutions for customer outcomes, growth, efficiency, and risk control
  • Experience of the following within an asset management context:
    • Governance and service design
    • Organisational re-design
    • Process re-engineering / automation
    • System / service selection
  • Experience preparing findings and presenting recommendations to Senior Management
