The Senior Analyst, Due Diligence for Alternative Investments is part of the Wealth, Trading & Production Solutions (WTPS) department. This role will complete initial and ongoing due diligence reviews across (non-daily liquid) alternative investment product lines (such as exchange funds, hedge funds, managed futures funds, non-traded BDCs, non-traded CEFs, non-traded REITs, private equity, real estate private placements and 1031 exchanges); analyze investment management teams, strategy, structure, performance, regulatory compliance, fees and distribution capabilities. Evaluate marketplace trends, build external relationships with investment firm due diligence teams and collaborate with internal key business partners.


  • Leading due diligence reviews on new and existing non-daily liquid alternative investments including on-site/virtual visits, questionnaire management, and interviews with firms and investment teams;
  • Evaluating fund and firm structure, investment thesis, performance, valuation procedures, fees, legal & compliance environment and distribution capabilities;
  • Reviewing offering materials, financial reports, public filings, non-public third party research and performance reports and perform ongoing monitoring;
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry practices and developments;
  • Raise issues and maintain records as required or appropriate;
  • Collaborate with Product Management team to support product training, including advisor-facing content as well as internal Ameriprise sales team materials

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years financial services experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with assigned product including understanding of compliance rules and regulations for product and industry
  • Active Series 7 or the ability to acquire within 120 days

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, CFA, CMA or CAIA
  • Experience with Preqin or other manager research tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Access or other modeling skills
  • Experience with FINRA & SEC and other regulatory agency rules/regulations
