Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.

Department Profile:
This role will reside within FRM's Investment Management coverage team, which oversees a variety of risks including, investment, market, liquidity, model and credit risks. This role supports the various risk disciplines through governance and reporting activities as well as strategic initiatives and project management. The position directly supports a senior-level team primarily in New York, but also London and Hong Kong, by providing analytical, decision-making and presentation support.
The successful candidate will be based in New York and will provide risk coverage of the Firm's extensive investment offerings in the Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) Division's Parametric unit. Parametric (PPA) is a leader in systemic investments finding custom solutions to individuals and across tax harvesting, ESG solutions, and risk management

Primary Responsibilities
- Independent oversight of the strategies and risks taken by the PPA funds across Market, Liquidity, Credit, Model and Investment Risk
- Assess risks posed by the introduction of new products or strategies
- Stress test funds to better understand risk profile under different market conditions
- Work closely with FRM Investment Risk team to investigate notable changes to the investment risk profile of the funds
- Create presentations articulating key risks and portfolio changes to senior management in a timely fashion
- Enhance the group's risk management capabilities by working on data and infrastructure projects
- Regularly perform deep dives into the Firm's portfolio and ensure the Firm's inventory of key risks is up-to-date and accurate
- Maintain active dialogue with business units, risk management colleagues, and support groups regarding business activities


Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or higher is preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience preferred in the financial services industry (particularly Investment Risk or portfolio management)
- Self-motivated, curious, and adaptable with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and have the interpersonal skills required to collaborate and establish effective relationships with the business and external groups
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to produce concise and effective presentations
- Comfortable using a variety of technology tools to analyze investment risk, examples of which may include Barra, Aladdin, Excel, SQL and statistical software packages
- Ability to work on multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously, consistently meeting deadlines
- Willingness to question established processes and seek to improve them
- Knowledge of various investment fund types including public equity and credit, private equity and credit, infrastructure, and real estate
