The Role: Senior Research Analyst, Global Crude Oil Markets

The Team: Global crude oil markets products within Commodity Insights at S&P Global has coverage over the entire energy value chain. Our experts bring a broad-reaching understanding of the global energy landscape that is unrivalled.
The oil markets team focuses on analyzing and forecasting the global oil fundamentals. This position requires the colleague to deliver trusted data and market intelligence on global oil supply.
This team helps strategic planners, procurement specialists, business development managers and market analysts build a detailed view of the sector and its players.

The Impact: The global crude oil markets senior analyst is responsible for every aspect of long-term oil supply, including the collection and publication of primary research deliverables, running internal forecasting models, interpreting market conditions into oil market forecasts, writing reports on oil markets impacts and forecasts, contributing to methodology development and collaborating with other business lines.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage, maintain and enhance proprietary supply and demand models and databases.
  • Analyze oil market developments through modeling and combine with non-quantitative drivers to create critical insights on market and technological dynamics, company strategies, and the future development of oil market.
  • Generate original research ideas and carry out topical research to help clients understand policies, anticipate critical trends, examine the competitive landscape, and identify opportunities along petroleum value chain.
  • Lead data mining activities, create and update various databases and models used for research activities, with a particular focus on refinery planning and economics.
  • Deliver insights through written reports and presentations at company and industry events.
  • Act as a core member of IHS Markit's global oil market. Connect with regional experts to share knowledge and exchange best practices.
What We're Looking For:
  • Master's degree or at least 6-7 years' relevant work experience with oil markets, oil analytics consultancies or oil trading houses.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, VBA or Python programing is a plus.
  • Conversant with the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills (written and oral).
  • An ability to oversee and absorb large amounts of information in a high-energy, fast-pace environment.
  • Possess professional integrity and willingness/desire to cultivate open mindset and team work culture.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $49,400 to $98,200 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
