Summary

 

As a result of substantial growth, Westerkirk Capital Inc. (‘WCI’), a private investment company based in Victoria, BC is seeking an Investment Associate. The organization is a single-family office investment enterprise managing assets via internal direct and third-party/external managers across a variety of portfolios and asset classes including fixed income, public equity, private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure, and real estate.

 

The Investment Associate will be involved in portfolio analytics, trade execution, and investment reporting.  In addition, the successful incumbent will play a key role in assisting with the development of a growing investment team and supporting the build-out of key investment infrastructure elements for our expanding portfolios and platforms.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Supporting the investment team in the following key areas:

Executing the investment program strategy across all asset classes.

Recommending investment implementation options, supported by transaction modelling and research.

Managing portfolio liquidity by executing currency trades and making short-term investments.

Building, maintaining and automating investment processes and controls.

Conducting operational due diligence and coordinating agreements for external manager mandates.

Accurately reporting and presenting investment portfolio positions, performance and risk exposures to executives.

Working with internal and external partners on other duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field.

Minimum three years of financial experience.

Progress towards CIM, CFA, CPA designations.

Excellent quantitative, analytical, financial modelling, problem solving and organizational skills.

Knowledge of portfolio management and risk management principles and practices.

Experience with Microsoft Excel and a programming language.

Experience with Addepar investment software and Bloomberg is considered an asset.
