Overview

Vantage Investment Partners is a single family office managing a concentrated portfolio of public equities.  We are looking to add equity analyst candidates with a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 7 years of either public equity or private equity investing experience.  The equity analyst’s primary objective is to conduct deep research and fundamental analysis to support an investment thesis in a Company guided by the Firm’s investment process and philosophy. Successful candidates will have a strong passion for public equity investing, an intellectual curiosity for businesses, and the ability to work effectively and flexibly with a small team. This role is an in-office position (not remote/hybrid) located in our Kansas City, MO headquarters. 

 

Only candidates within the desired experience range (3-7 years) and submit all three of the documents specified under “How to Apply” will be considered for the position.

Responsibilities

  • This role is for generalist research coverage; the expectation is you will cover companies across a variety of industries
  • Conduct rigorous business due diligence, including reading and summarizing findings from company filings, research reports, transcripts, and news
  • Conduct primary research including speaking with industry experts, analysts, attending conferences or tradeshows and meeting with management teams
  • Recommend investments to portfolio managers and the investment committee through carefully written investment thesis presentations and memos
  • Create and maintain valuation models and monitor ongoing developments for the firm’s universe of equity stock holdings and watchlist
  • Ability to travel for investor conferences, company meetings, trade shows, and other events that further the firm’s ability to make impactful investment decisions
  • Help improve and expand the firm’s research and investment process

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years and maximum 7 years of relevant experience (public equity or private equity investing)
  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting
  • Proficient with financial modeling and discounted cash flow analysis
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Bloomberg is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexible and team oriented, with the ability to pivot from one task to another
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, with a demonstrated passion for investing
  • Intellectual curiosity with an ability to engage in thoughtful debates over the merits of an investment
  • Experience working with junior analysts and/or interns is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFA® or an advanced degree (MBA) is a plus
