The Factors, Sustainability and Solutions group (FS2) brings together the research and investment expertise of BlackRock Systematic Investments to deliver a comprehensive product range and coherent message across factor-based and sustainable strategies. We are seeking a Quantitative Researcher to complement the FS2 team. This individual will join a team of quantitative researchers and portfolio managers that manage systematic factor-based investment strategies, sustainable strategies as well as customized solutions mandates. This person will focus on developing quantitative factor/signal research across the factor spectrum at BlackRock. We are considering candidates at all levels of experience.

Our hybrid work pilot

We are seeking a Quantitative Researcher to complement the FS2 team. This individual will join a team of quantitative researchers and portfolio managers that manage systematic factor-based investment strategies, sustainable strategies as well as customized solutions mandates. - A team of world class researchers, portfolio managers, data scientists and strategists
- Through BlackRock, access to some of the best investors and thought leaders, as well as leading experts in statistics, machine learning and optimization
- A track record of innovation - from early quant pioneering in the 1980s to the cutting edge of data-driven investing today
You have a desire to:
- Develop innovative investment ideas using quantitative analysis to capture long-run rewarded factors. This may include a review of existing data, testing of the usability of new datasets, back-testing of these strategies and interpretation/implementation of output results to improve our research process
- Construct and maintain quantitative investment strategies including portfolio rebalancing oversight
- Deliver high quality signal research with a focus on long-only equities and the usage of novel datasets such as ESG
- Collaborate with research colleagues on investment ideas, with portfolio managers on efficient execution of ideas and with investment strategists on innovative investment products
- Collaborate with wider BlackRock platforms to deliver innovative systematic solutions
You may also have:
- A Bachelors, Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline: e.g., economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Matlab or similar. SQL and Unix experience a plus but not necessary
- Detailed knowledge of statistical techniques, portfolio optimisation, financial economics and risk models
- Attention to detail, curious and self-motivated. Highly organized and ability to work towards tight deadlines
- Good communication skills: ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to colleagues and clients and ability to present at quantitative conferences
- Collaborative team player, willing to engage with other colleagues, share ideas and give/receive constructive feedback
