The Junior Analyst provides analysis and supports Equity Investment Consultancy and Oversight initiatives. This involves learning and working with multiple software systems used to calculate and evaluate investment performance and investment risk measures. This person will be responsible for generating reports from these systems, analyzing information contained therein, and communicating findings to the Head of Equity Investment Consultancy and Oversight.
This is an entry level position which would provide the candidate the opportunity to acquire experience in the investment management industry, specifically in equities and learn industry specific software, concepts, and standard processes. The candidate would be encouraged to pursue a CFA designation and have a strong desire to start a career in the investment management industry. The role provides broad exposure to the industry and opportunity to observe and interact with analysts and portfolio managers daily. The position reports to the Head of Equity Investment Consultancy and Oversight.
Naturally curious mind, strong Excel skills, some Python experience, and a desire to do quantitative work preferred. Role requires high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Quickly become proficient with performance and risk software, reports, and output.
  • Monthly performance report generation, reconciliation, and delivery.
  • Assist with updating and delivery of quarterly reporting to board trustees.
  • Support ad hoc requests for performance and risk reports from marketing and portfolio managers. Provide timely and accurate responses.
  • Prepare and analyze risk report packets for Portfolio Manager meetings.
  • Assume key coordination role with Mutual Fund Board, reporting, data collection and analysis.
  • Grow to understand, identify and present performance drivers with insightful output.
  • Prepare and update reports for 5P reviews. Develop ability to understand and present high level themes and results from these reports.


Required Qualifications

  • Degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or other relevant area of study.
  • 1+ years of experience, including internships.
  • Desire to start a career in investment management and pursue the CFA designation.
  • Basic accounting skills, understanding of reconciliation and compound interest.
  • Attention to detail, including the ability to complete accurate work on a consistent basis and proofread the work of others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Positive attitude, ability to support co-workers in various capacities as required, and willingness to give to an existing strong group dynamic.
  • Quantitatively oriented and mathematically inclined.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with R, Python, MATLAB, Stata, SPSS or another relevant programming language (such as VBA)
