MISSION: Participate as a member of the team managing the Permanent School Fund assets in a sound and prudent manner for the benefit of all Texans.

On or after January 1, 2023, all Permanent School Fund positions will transfer from the Texas Education Agency to the Texas PSF Corporation, a recently formed special-purpose governmental corporation.  All staff benefits, including insurance and retirement, will remain with the Texas Employees Retirement System. All PSF staff participate in a performance incentive plan.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Texas PSF Corporation is seeking a talented individual to join a team of professionals at the Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) Corporation, a $55 billion perpetual public fund endowment that helps finance the state’s public schools. 

This position reports to the Director of Private Markets and is responsible for performing advanced (senior-level) investment research and analysis work. The analyst is responsible for monitoring, researching, and analyzing investments and markets within Private Equity and Real Estate. The work also includes participating in the investment due diligence process, assisting  investment staff in manager relations and communications. The analyst maintains due diligence files and deal flow databases and provides written and oral analysis and prepares reports for monitoring and approval of private market investments. 

Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in initial and ongoing due diligence and oversight of fund investments, involving investment manager communications, on-site interviews, document review, investment analytics, reporting and other activities.
  • Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of asset allocation, sector and manager exposures, and compliance with applicable policies.
  • Assist in building models for the purpose of modeling economic costs of investing.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of investment due diligence, investment analysis, and performance measurement technology platforms and systems.
  • Monitor performance of private market investments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years work experience in investments analysis. 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience in investment research and analysis and familiarity with private market tools preferred (e.g., Private i, Thompson One, Preqin).
  • Experience with financial analysis and software applications including advanced MS Office (Excel, Power Point and Word) skills.  Knowledge of CRM systems is preferred.
  • Pursuit of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation preferred.
  • Must have strong oral/written communication skills.  
  • Must have clear focus on excellent customer service and delivery of error free work product. 
  • Must have keen interpersonal skills, be results oriented and able to exhibit strong work habits. 
  • Ability to apply financial research techniques and to conduct exhaustive searches and evaluations of vast amounts of data utilizing the internet and other resources.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and summarize financial data and prepare management reports.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize the work, to be flexible and manage multiple projects and assignments with attention to details and minimum supervision. 
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and the ability to recognize the requirements of confidentiality.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Expected to be a team player, a self-starter and an independent thinker.
