Job Details

The Senior Portfolio Manager / Chief Investment Officer position provides the opportunity to manage an investment team and process as their senior member. The ideal candidate will exhibit intellectual curiosity, creativity, humility, and good judgment. The candidate must be capable of working independently, willing to ask questions, and able to distill and communicate information in a clear, efficient manner. The position includes some travel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the internal Investment Team
  • Develop asset allocation views for use in tactical managed accounts
  • Maintain client investment menus and portfolios in Morningstar Direct
  • Support quarterly investment performance reporting
  • Conduct manager research and due diligence process for existing portfolio investments, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Draft and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee for review
  • Coordinate flow of information between internal research, the Investment Committee, client reporting staff, and client consulting staff
  • Create and maintain investment manager and fund profiles
  • Track and document manager performance and attribution through quarterly due diligence questionnaires, conference calls, meetings, and onsite visits with managers
  • Participate in asset class reviews relevant to RPA’s asset allocation strategy
  • Disseminate pertinent market commentary, manager information, and other relevant insights to clients by producing thoughtful economic and investment research
  • Identify new investment opportunities
  • Prepare analysis and reports on various financial market topics
  • Develop materials for client meetings and presentations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of fund due diligence, asset allocation, and portfolio construction experience required; 10+ years preferred
  • Strong interest in capital markets, economics, and investments
  • Superior analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with Morningstar Direct a plus
  • Comfortable in unstructured environments with open-ended questions and needs
  • Strength in exploring new topics and trends
  • Data analysis skills Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, diverse, and growth-oriented setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle complicated situations with a positive approach High level of team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • CFA designation required
