Job Purpose Statement

In this role your primary responsibility will be the measurement and management of the risk taken across our range of real estate funds. Your role forms part of our EMEA Investment Risk team, who partner with investment teams to ensure risk levels are consistent with client objectives, promote risk-aware portfolio construction and provide insightful analytics. You will be required to effectively communicate your findings to stakeholders around the business and form good working relationships across areas such as product management, distribution and technology, in addition to investment teams.

Role Responsibilities

• Analyse Columbia Threadneedle funds to understand the key risks, and communicate findings with senior risk managers and fund managers.
• Ensuring that all supported funds and mandates adhere to internal investment risk guidelines while raising appropriate levels of challenge where necessary.
• Conduct insightful analysis and summarise findings for escalation to risk committees and senior leaders.
• Assist with the development and integration of risk oversight and reporting for all Real Estate businesses, including contributing to the development of internal reporting systems.
• Develop key relationships with other departments.
• Recommend and establish improvements to the team's processes.
• Provide support and input into the oversight of other Real Asset products, such as Infrastructure and Private Equity, as required

Key Capabilities

• Good understanding of financial markets and risk management
• Good understanding of Real Estate industry. Additional understanding of Private Equity and/or Infrastructure investing an advantage but not a necessity.
• Good understanding of market and property specific risk measures
• Good communication skills with the ability to interact with different departments
• Strong technical skills in Excel

Desired Capabilities

• Good academic record in a quantitative or scientific field
• Studies towards or completion of additional qualifications are desirable but not compulsory (IMC / CFA / FRM)
• Knowledge of a system such as Aladdin, FactSet, Bloomberg, and/or other financial software, especially Real Estate software such as Horizon.
• Experience with, or motivation to learn, programming languages such as R, Python and SQL.
