This position’s focus is to meet with clients, prospects, consultants, and intermediaries to: (1) be an extension of the investment teams to explain the investment philosophy, process and performance of our products; (2) provide regular updates to existing clients including supporting the Virtus retail sales force; (3) support new marketing and sales efforts; and (4) assist with commentaries and other market related collateral and client requests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represents D&P as a subject matter expert in listed real assets demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of our products including detailed knowledge of underlying investment strategies, rationale for product positioning, drivers of performance and relevant market background. Product focus includes Real Assets, Global Listed Infrastructure, and our Thematic strategies (Clean Energy and Water). 
  • Acts as a key liaison between portfolio management teams and sales/marketing for purposes of positioning and marketing the investment strategies.  Proactively manages relationships with portfolio management and sales teams.
  • Serves as the primary investment contact for assigned clients and/or intermediaries within our global client base.
  • Coordinates relationship management activities with the sales, product management, marketing, product specialist and/or portfolio management functions.  
  • Participates in investment research meetings with portfolio teams and read research and other market information to stay current on top portfolio names, turnover and performance attribution. 
  • Acts as a thought leader and is conversant in ESG issues, especially as it relates to Water and Clean Energy.
  • Supports Virtus Retail Sales through external meetings with financial advisors and also internally through conference calls and product training.
  • Assists with special products around marketing, new marketing initiatives, bespoke client requests and other portfolio and data related information that could be helpful to existing clients or new prospects.
  • Contributes to new business communication (e.g., final presentations, consultant and or/gatekeeper meetings) content.
  • Other duties as assigned by the EMD or other senior management in response to business needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  (education, experience, certifications, licenses, skills required) 

  • BA/BS degree with 7-10 years relevant investment management experience. 
  • Master’s degree and CFA designation a plus. 
  • Prior experience as a portfolio manager or client portfolio manager.  
  • Strong analytical skills with a thorough understanding of financial markets, investment concepts, and economics.  Real Asset or Alternatives experience a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with institutional and retail sales, client service team, marketing, and product specialist groups.
  • Excellent written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent skills with technology and data.
  • Credible and curious with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, establish priorities, work independently, and accountability to keep track of progress and activities. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work in a hybrid office environment (i.e., combination of in-office and remote work).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and maintain flexible hours in order to meet clients’ needs. Travel will vary based on client meeting schedules.
  • Ability to operate a computer and perform repetitive motion activities.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
