Description of the Business Line or Department

The Global and Integrated Finance Division ('DFIN') department's aim is to add value to the Group and its business lines' development, through a transformation of our organisation and operating modes. DFIN provides a key contribution to the Group value creation, through our activities of strategic advisory, steering, data production and certification. We are engaged in all dimensions of performance evaluation across the Group and provide a transversal and objective vision to support informed decision-making for the management and development of SG Group and its business lines.

The Asset & Liability Management ('ALM') function sits within DFIN, provides expert resources in the fields of managing structural risks (interest rate and foreign exchange) and liquidity risks, all of which can present significant threats to the safety and soundness of the bank. The team oversees the ALM activities in UK (SG London branch, SG International Limited and SG Kleinwort Hambros), and is responsible to meet strategic structural risks and liquidity requirements locally in UK and also from Head-office. The function reports to the CFOs of supervised entities.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Lead and be responsible for the Asset and Liabilities Management activities of SGKH :
  • Support the initiative aiming to integrate the ALM teams covering Kleinwort Hambros under one ALM team for the UK entities.
  • Ownership of structural risks and liquidity risk management.
  • Supervise the production of ALM deliverables (Project, modelling, Committees...) together with monitoring structural risks and liquidity risk and ensure compliant with the ALM management framework.
  • Develop analysis of structural risks, liquidity risk, capital and scare resources in coordination with Head-office ALM team.
  • Monitor and analyse the entities' funding needs and treasury position, anticipate the impacts of new products on liquidity.
  • Lead and implement solutions aiming at optimising the balance sheet, considering the various constraints (regulatory, risks...), Head-office requirements and local buffer utilisation.
  • Ensure a high-level of cooperation with the Business and other SG departments (DFIN, RISQ, ...) locally in UK and Head-office.

The successful candidate will see his/her supervision being extended to SG London branch and SG International Limited (subject to regulatory approval)

Summary of responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily/monthly reporting of the structural risks and liquidity risk of the balance sheet, analyse and explain the ALM indicators (NPV, IRRBB, NIM, GAP...).
  • Monitor the ALM indicators versus granted limits and propose adequate actions to prevent any limit breached to ensure compliant with the ALM management framework.
  • Review ALM models and indicators limits on an annual basis in coordination with Head-office.
  • Manage the FTP methodology definition and calibration to adapt to commercial strategy and in synch with SG Group principles, and participate the pricing committees.
  • Monitor and analyse funding needs and treasury position, anticipate liquidity capacity by participating to analysis of new investment product and new business model via liquidity simulations.
  • SGKH ALCO: Active participation into ALCO committee
  • In charge of capital re-investment in line with Group guidelines.
  • Support Treasury activities for liquidity management and ad-hoc ALM related requests.
  • Keep an updated view on UK regulation requirements and support the business lines in regulatory environment changes or any relevant needs.
  • Strong oversight and involvement within entity transformation projects and initiatives impacting ALM departments.


Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of ALM (structural risks and liquidity risk, ALM indicators);
  • Knowledge of balance sheet modelling;
  • Knowledge of Treasury (structure, functions, profit planning and growth) and financial product and hedging;
  • Knowledge of PRA, FCA and ECB regulatory framework applicable to structural risks and liquidity risk and the firm's underlying business (investment bank, securities, private bank);
  • Knowledge of market practices in dealing and market risk metrics;
  • Able to work transversally and have organisational skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp and master new information/request
  • Capacity to keep a good level of partnership with our internal (DFIN, GTR, RISQ, ...)
  • Team management skills;
  • Team spirit and collaboration, ability to work with different departments (DFIN, TRE, RISK, REG, MARK...) locally in UK and Head-office;
  • Knowledge of Kondor+ is a plus;

Work Experience

* Experience in Treasury;

* Experience in ALM or Risk equivalent function.

Education

* Master or equivalent in Finance;

* CFA/FRM would be a plus.

Languages

* English;

* French is a plus.
