The Role: An Associate is responsible for rating CLOs and managing the end-to-end ratings process from the initial engagement through the publication of reports. The Associate will review documents, consider the legal dimensions of transaction structures, develop an understanding of and apply relevant rating criteria, assess the credit profile of collateral pools, work with financial and cash flow models to stress test the structures and enhancement levels under various economic scenarios. The Associate will also be the primary analytical contact for bankers, issuers and investors and will resolve any analytical inquiries that may arise during the rating process. At the same time, the Associate will be responsible of a portfolio of CLOs to monitor. Associates who excel in this role will have opportunities to work across other asset classes, assume greater account and project lead responsibilities, and advance into more senior analytical roles.

The Team / The Business: S&P Global is seeking an experienced analyst to join its Structured Finance Ratings group as an Associate in the Structured Credit practice. The practice provides credit ratings of structured products that are backed by pools of assets, mainly focused on Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) transactions. You will report to the Analytical Manager, Structured Finance and be working closely with a number of highly experienced industry specialists.

You will have responsibility for helping the undertaking of the analysis for the Structured Credit team.

Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of a portfolio of credits, mainly CLOs.
  • Independently preparing and presenting analysis and recommendations to credit committees.
  • Assisting the preparation and presentation of analysis by a senior team member and recommendations to credit committees
  • Conducting analyses on complicated SF transactions with appropriate risk factor identification, measurement, and presentation
  • Acting proactive member in ratings committees and in the team
  • Working closely with analysts to provide research and analysis for the Structured Finance team
  • Review and run cash flow models
  • Analyze data and review documentation for the analytical team
  • Undertake research in support of S&P Global Ratings published commentaries
  • Understand and implement S&P's Policies
  • Take the lead on special projects within the Structured Finance as appropriate
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineer, Mathematics, Physics, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related subject/Pursuing post graduate studies/CFA
  • Relevant industry experience in Securitization and/or CLO or credit analysis or related analytical fields.
  • 3/4 or more years of analytical work experience in the financial services industry
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Demonstrable analytical work experience in the financial services industry and good numerical skills, and an ability to synthesize and interpret large volumes of data.
  • Solid analytical capability, team player and has good time management skills
  • Able to multi-task and meet projects with a tight time frame
  • Self-starter and proactive attitude and effective team player.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-changing, global and regulated environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English and good writing skills to prepare professional analyses and reports.
  • Good/advanced knowledge of Python and/or R is a distinctive advantage.
