The Role: North America Natural Resources and CCUS Researcher

The Team: Upstream Solutions from S&P Global Commodity Insights comprise some of the most extensive and complete information, analytics, insight, and advisory services in the world. We deliver oil and gas databases and software, energy transition insight, energy supply and demand forecasts, and comprehensive data on transactions at the global and regional market levels.
The Impact: S&P Global Fields and E&P data is reliant on the role of the US Field Researcher for the provision of detailed geological information and insight. The researcher will collaborate with wider teams within Upstream Solutions to help provide industry leading content and upstream intelligence, enabling the client to make critical investment decisions.

What's in it for you: You will build on your geoscience knowledge to become an expert on US oil and gas fields. You will also have a focus on other industry sectors such as carbon capture utilization and storage projects. You will work alongside an exciting research team comprised of regional experts and experienced geoscientists. You will have the opportunity to upskill in geoscience tools such as ArcGIS, Kingdom and SQL Developer. You will build your knowledge around the wider upstream industry as it, and S&P Global, adapts and evolves with the energy transition, and you'll be a key contact for geological information in your region for both internal and external clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Extensive research, analysis and interpretation of information and data relating to US oil and gas fields and reservoirs, predominantly US-contiguous onshore and Gulf of Mexico Shelf area
  • Maintenance of the Iris21 Fields and Reservoirs Database (Production, Reserves, Development activities, Geological and Hydrocarbon information, IOR/EOR, Images and Bibliography) and of Field spatial layers using GIS tools
  • Initiate and run, or be directed to run, data projects to improve quality and completeness on US Onshore/shelf fields and Reservoirs
  • Conduct technical data review projects in conjunction with the Product team and E&P database updates
  • Participate in regional presentations to S&P Global clients and collaborate with wider teams within Upstream Solutions
  • Assists Customer support team on specific customer queries on Onshore US Field data
  • What We're Looking For: BSc / MSc degree in a geoscience discipline is essential. Post-graduate geoscience qualification preferred
  • Strong industry or academic geoscience background or experience with excellent knowledge of oil and gas fields and reservoir
  • 3+ years of oil and gas industry experience is favorable
  • Experience with GIS tools such as ESRI ArcMap and geological interpretation software such as Kingdom and Petrel
  • Experience with large datasets, data management systems and data analysis software (Excel, PowerBI, Access etc.).
  • Database experience and SQL language knowledge is an advantage
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with fluent spoken and written English.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines is essential
  • Ability to excel both individually and as part of the team, personally driving strong, collaborative relationships across the Central Team and wider regional teams
  • Self-starter, resourceful and independent thinker that is detail oriented
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,300 to $139,800. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
