The Role: Financial Analytics Analyst

Grade/Level (relevant for internal applicants only): 7

The Location: New York, NY and Raleigh, NC

The Team: The Situational Analytics team works with investor relations and their management teams to help them understand the impact of significant, transformative scenarios on their shareholder base. The team provides its corporate clients with insight around major corporate changes, including, but not limited to, mergers & acquisitions, spin-offs, IPOs, and changes to capital allocation and dividend policies. The team focuses on creating bespoke, customized solutions for clients based on their specific needs and has been on the forefront of helping corporations understand the growing sustainable investment industry and how institutional investors are integrating ESG information into their overall investment process. Outside of working directly with corporate management teams, the group also works very closely with S&P's banking and exchange partners, providing insight into impact on major events, assistance on their corporate access efforts, in addition to providing global landscape analyses identifying major trends across industries and geographies globally.

The Impact: This role is client facing, in which analysts develop direct client relationships early in their careers and assist clients with topics that have a visible impact on high-level decision making. Analyses produced by members of the team are often used in client presentations to their c-suite and board of directors. While analytical in nature, our goal is to provide actionable insight and intelligence to assist clients in their decision making.

Responsibilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required with 0 - 5 years of experience in a financial or analytical field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Superior analytical reasoning, oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented; able to multi-task; strong organizational skills
  • An ability to work both independently (as a self-starter) and within a dynamic team
  • Demonstrated interest in capital markets and financial topics
  • Motivation to learn new software applications and datasets
  • Resourceful and able to contribute creative solutions to client questions and internal functions

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary of approximately $85,0000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
