Your team responsibilities

The team is responsible for research and assessment of carbon footprint and business initiatives related to climate change for approximately 20,000 companies globally, as well as maintenance of data related to MSCI EU Sustainable Finance module. The team’s focus is on climate-related metrics and EU Sustainable Finance, including carbon emissions, energy performance, climate change targets and commitments, and SFDR, EU Taxonomy using a variety of sources, such as annual reports, sustainability reports, quantitative data feeds from third-party data providers, news publications, and other company disclosures. 

Your key responsibilities

Your primary responsibility is to help manage a small team of analysts to execute prioritized business objectives and support other locations’ activities. Your tasks will include overseeing the deliverables of the team, providing operational direction, and addressing any production or quality issues. You will also be expected to address queries pertaining to our climate and EU SF data from internal and external data users, reconciling data challenges, training users on our methodologies and processes, and maintaining process documents.

Other responsibilities would include:

  • Working with a global team of researchers, data and IT specialists, and vendors to enhance and improve our research and assessment of companies’ carbon footprint, climate change targets and commitments, climate change mitigation practices, SFDR and EU Taxonomy.
  • Reviewing, recommending, designing and implementing process improvements and QA checks to ensure consistent data quality and efficiency; and
  • Contributing to working committees, projects, or perform other tasks as deemed necessary by the business.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • At least 10 years of experience in data operations, preferably within financial services, climate scenario analysis, environmental/sustainability consulting, or knowledge process outsourcing. An in-depth understanding of the global investment process is a clear advantage.
  • A background in Climate Offsets is preferred.
  • Knowledge of climate change issues & regulations, energy efficiency, net-zero or climate mitigation strategies, regulatory and reporting standards & frameworks (e.g., TCFD, IPCC, UNFCCC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of EU Sustainable Finance and other ESG labels, regulations & frameworks (e.g., SFDR, EU Taxonomy, etc.)
