POSITION TITLE:           CAPITAL MANAGEMENT & TREASURY SPECIALIST

LOCATION:                     GAUTENG

REPORTS TO:                CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

COMPANY TYPE:           INSURANCE

 

Working in a strategic group environment primarily concerned with the capital management, funding, corporate & banking structures of an insurance group, the purpose of the Treasury & Capital Management team is to manage the Group’s capital base through capital calculations and reporting, investment strategy and management, and the implementation of various corporate banking strategies and tools to manage liquidity and mitigate its operational, financial and reputational risk.  The successful incumbent will be surrounded by the talents of industry thought leaders & executives providing opportunity to grow into a specialist with highly sought after skills and experience. 

 

OUTPUTS:-

  • Consolidate the economic and regulatory capital position
  • Develop an in depth understanding of the Group's banking operations
  • Review, determine strategy and policy, and assist with the design of the Group’s banking structure
  • Analyse and report on Treasury processes
  • Assist with managing liquidity
  • Progress and support financial projects 
  • Position insights and present conclusions that translate to effective propositions
  • Ensure structures are risk, legal, tax compliant etc.
  • Contribute to the general investment portfolio management by analysing fixed interest assets and hedging, investment manager research, monitoring and due diligence
  • Conduct research & analysis into key industry issues
  • Work cross-functionally and interact with industry stakeholders
  • Provide intellectual support to the executive team and broader business

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:-

  • Upper quartile academic performance from a leading university
  • Undergraduate B.Comm or BSc:  Accounting, Finance, Economics or Actuarial Science
  • Postgraduate (complete or near):  CA, CFA or M.A etc.
  • Approximately 3 – 5 years’ experience at well-recognized financial services firm
  • Knowledge of insurance and prudential regulatory environment and SAM or;
  • Knowledge of capital management and corporate banking structures within the SA Insurance Industry or;
  • Knowledge of institutional investment environment incl. fixed interest instruments
  • Top performer with appetite for results
