Join Aprio's Private Capital team and you will help clients maximize their opportunities.  Aprio, LLP is a progressive, fast-growing firm looking for a leader to oversee the implementation and execution processes for sourcing, evaluation, deal execution, management, and communications of investment opportunities across the private capital landscape – private equity, private capital, real estate, and venture capital.  This leader would report into the Chief Investment Officer and help shape the firm’s private capital investment approach.  This role has the opportunity to be remote with location preference to New York and San Francisco.

 

Outcome for Aprio

With this hire, Aprio will be able to systematically offer its family office and wealth management clients private investing opportunities across the investment landscape.  In doing so, the Director will organize private capital deal flow and relationships with sponsors to create a pipeline that is shared with the Chief Investment Officer and communicated appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deal/Fund Pipeline Development
    • Develop and manage relationships with investment platforms, fund sponsors and independent sponsors to generate deal flow. 
    • Keep deal pipeline current and coordinate with Chief Investment Officer. 
       
  • Develop investment themes and opportunities
    • Working with the Chief Investment Officer, develop and coordinate investment themes, including devising strategies to invest across private capital asset classes. 
    • Source funds and independent sponsors as part of implementing investment themes.
       
  • Advisor/Partner Communications
    • Create internal communications and webinars about private deal opportunities, investment themes and strategies for Advisors and Partners to use with Aprio clients.
    • Develop recurring overview of pipeline for advisors and partners to use in client conversations. 
       
  • Deal/Fund Due Diligence
    • Develop and maintain fund due diligence process, including documentation of funds evaluated. 
       
  • Pipeline Management
    • Maintain dialogue with sponsors to manage timing of opportunities.
    • Manage the communication process with advisors, partners, and clients around deal opportunities so that clients have ample time to ask questions and ensure funding.
       
  • Transaction Execution
    • Coordinate with internal resources to help manage operations, legal and execution process for private capital investment working with sponsor or co-investment partner.
       
  • Investment Monitoring and Management
    • Help prepare and author investment committee memo.
       
  • Communicating with Advisors on Distributions / Cash flow
    • Manage communications with fund sponsors and independent sponsors to provide quarterly and annual commentary for advisors, partners and Aprio’s investors. 
    • Interact with fund sponsors and independent advisors to communicate distributions and capital calls with advisors and clients.

 

Qualifications / Experience

  • 3 - 7 years of professional experience investing in private equity, private credit, private real estate, venture capital, or at a family office/holding company where a deal process was a core component of the investment process.  Can be direct investments or private market manager selection.
  • Generating investment theses and sourcing investment opportunities that align with an investment perspective.
  • Strong ability to communicate and present investments, including clearly framing risks, return opportunities and conclusions to senior executives and clients.
  • Organized and detail-oriented to handle constantly changing investment opportunity pipeline.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; commitment to teamwork; and ability to work with and develop effective relationships across the organization.
  • Undergraduate degree required.  MBA, JD, or CFA preferred. 
  • Will provide financial assistance toward CFA charter holder designation.
