Executive Director, Investment Policy - Job Ad
SFPP Corporation

Are you looking for an opportunity to put your investment and pension knowledge to work, contributing to building a strong foundation of retirement security for nearly 8,000 retired and active police officers who are members of the Special Forces Pension Plan (SFPP)? SFPP Corporation has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to join our team as Executive Director, Investment Policy in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Executive Director, Investment Policy is responsible for supporting the SFPP Board in setting an investment policy that will provide consistent delivery of Plan benefits while maintaining both affordable contributions for members and a healthy plan funded status. The Executive Director also monitors SFPP’s investment portfolio to ensure that it conforms to the investment policy.

Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Director plays a critical role in the development of SFPP’s investment and funding policies, managing the relationships between SFPP and the legislated investment manager (Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo)), communicating investment matters to the SFPP Board, and developing and maintaining relations with other Alberta public sector pension plans. This role will help develop and implement mechanisms for evaluating and reporting AIMCo’s performance and establishing protocols for communication between the two organizations. Further, this position will assist the CEO in communicating complex investment information to the Board both in person and by using various other media. The role will be the main point of contact for communications with appropriate personnel at AIMCo. This role provides critical inputs to Management, the CEO, and the Board in fulfilling their fiduciary duties to the Plan.

SFPP Corporation is a small but expert team that takes an integrative approach to the management of the Plan. The ideal candidate is a high-performing investment professional who can bring significant experience with investment management or pension fund management to that integrative approach. The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships is imperative to the success of this role as the Executive Director, Investment Policy, frequently communicates with other Alberta pension plans, consultants, and key stakeholders both internally and externally.
