We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

The role holder is responsible for managing, acquiring and growing profitable long-term relationships with clients domiciled in oriental Asia, focusing mainly on new-to-HSBC UHNWI and families with investable assets of over USD30m.

The role holder will need to originate new relationships through established network, establish a holistic understanding of client needs, deliver innovative high value solutions across all product lines, gain significant business and sustainable returns for the wider Group and provide leadership to teams to support and deliver client performance against plan.

In this role you will:

The role holder will have client-facing responsibilities, which will include some or all of the following:
  • Generate new opportunities with clients domiciled in oriental Asia through established network, primarily focusing on new-to-HSBC UHNWI and families. Coordinate in conjunction with colleagues where appropriate.
  • Drive achievement against targets for net new money (NNM) and revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction and cost containment.
  • Co-ordinate with investment advisors, credit specialists, wealth planners and product specialists to grow HSBC's share of client wallet.
  • Provide support to client's portfolio management in close collaboration with the responsible Investment Counsellor, and ensure clients understand and are aware of their level of risk, and their objectives are met through the portfolio allocation.
  • Identify liquidity events and financing opportunities, including working with client's professional advisors.
  • Combine client relationship management with strong risk assessment and management capabilities ensuring the required credit quality & requisite returns on risk.
  • Lead by example through financial results with excellent corporate behavior.
  • Provide assistance to fellow Relationship Managers and work alongside the Asia based Global Relationship Managers for delivery of global client coverage when required.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.


To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • At least 7 years of relationship management experience in the private banking sector or investment banking with oriental Asian clients, including significant experience in originating and serving UHNWI and families
  • Proven track record in self-origination of new UHNW relationships, asset gathering, asset growth and revenue generation
  • Excellent commercial and negotiation skills
  • Highly developed communication skills for use in direct client contact and problem solving
  • Ability to provide strong financial and statistical analysis
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Attention to detail and the ability to think creatively to solve problems
  • Willingness to work in a target driven and high performance environment
  • Excellent understanding of financial markets and products
  • Fluent in English and local language of the relevant oriental Asian market
