The investment bank covering fixed income and currencies, and origination & advisory is looking for a junior business manager to join the exciting and dynamic team in Sydney. A leader in debt capital markets, leveraged finance, structured finance, asset backed securities and commercial real estate. As well as a Leading FX platform with focused rates and flow credit capabilities to support our global corporate and institutional clients. This role will provide an opportunity to work across all business' in the investment bank and the supporting infrastructure departments.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Partner with the business and local, regional and global COO teams to support the development and execution of key strategic initiatives.
  • Learn trade and client life cycle - identify and implement improvements
  • Improve business efficiency by leading or supporting changes to business or infrastructure processes in response to changes in the regulatory, market, client, competitor, technological or operational landscape.
  • Coordinate general and administrative requirements for the businesses (e.g. approvals, premises, business continuity, re certifications, operational loss events, complaints, reporting, ad hoc projects, audits, audit finding resolution, strategic planning, etc).
  • Act as the conduit between the business and infrastructure groups.
  • Maximize the financial contribution of the business via revenue performance analysis and cost management discipline.
  • Design, facilitate and analyse key business KPIs and MI to support the effective management of the business, including presentation.
  • Ensure 1st line business controls are properly implemented and monitored, with escalation where necessary. This includes driving staff adherence to the policies and bank processes.
  • Coordinate the local implementation of global policies and processes having regard to local legal and regulatory requirements.

Your skills and experience:
  • A strong Tertiary academic record
  • 2+ years' experience in investment banking or financial institutions
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Familiarity with investment banking financial products
  • Existing markets or corporate finance knowledge either working in markets or supporting infrastructure (accounting, finance, risk, middle office) would be an advantage
  • Strong communicator and a team player willing to contribute to the collaborative success of the broader team
  • Highly motivated and energetic individual
  • Proactive analytical problem solver
