Job Description

  • We are growing and expanding! The Investment team has a great new opportunity for someone who wants to positively impact the company and contribute to the organization. We are looking for someone who is passionate about what’s going on in the market and the impact to our investment portfolio by managing our portfolio managers and performance to support the team. We also look for individuals who want to learn and develop collaborative partnerships throughout the organization. The Investment Manager will support leadership in all aspects of enterprise investment portfolios, including strategic asset allocation recommendations, assessment of financial markets, investment performance management, development of investment strategies, liquidity management across the enterprise, and development of investment board-related content. Will work on multiple simultaneous projects at any given time, with responsibilities including providing strategic and investment support on various initiatives, managing investments from origination to execution, and coaching and mentoring investment team members! This Investment Manager will report directly to the Investment Director.
A Day in the Life:
  • Manage the daily investment portfolio trade activity to ensure maximum risk-adjusted returns that outpace the index while maintaining liquidity.
  • Lead the development of the asset allocation strategies for all corporate portfolios, pension, 401k, foundation, and other non-qualified benefit assets.
  • Manage the development of investment strategies to optimize returns within approved parameters (e.g., investment policy and RBC).
  • Participate and assist with all investment portfolio managers proactively to identify performance gaps and risks to benchmarks.
  • Assist with the Treasury partnership to ensure liquidity needs have been identified and planned for with regards to Operating Fund maturities and the timing of those maturities to support operations and/or pivotal initiatives.
  • Inform Treasury and Investment leadership and other colleagues regarding current economic trends that may enhance business decisions and strategies in the department as well as the broader enterprise.
  • Manage the development of proactive analysis, solutions, and strategies to support enterprise strategies and related department, goals, and focus areas including but not limited to cost savings, operational improvements, and optimization.
  • Lead the development of analytics, peer comparisons, management reporting, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to manage respected accountabilities.
  • Manage the development of forecasts and budgets and manage work accordingly to these commitments with explanations to deviations.
  • Exemplify fiduciary stewardship over all financial assets. Adhere to conducting work through development and approved policies, processes, and controls to ensure compliance and to mitigate risks for the organization.
  • Assist the Investment Director on any other initiatives including but not limited to support on board and committed related content.
  • Manage and develop a diverse talent by providing an inclusive environment that promotes diversity of thought and team engagement. This should include proactive coaching, career development conversations, and performance coaching and evaluation.
Nice to Have:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance or Finance-related area of study.
  • CFA, CTP, CPA, JD, FRM, and/or CRMP
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial industry and insurance industry.

  • Required Skills and Experiences:
  • 7+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • 1+ years leading a team or successful project lead experience.
  • Expert knowledge of financial markets, enterprise treasury, investments, risk management and subsequent best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to ensure Treasury and Investment objectives are communicated and understood.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking and investment legal and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex treasury, investment, and accounting information clearly to boards, investment committees and executive staff.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management ability, with flexibility to handle a variety of challenging responsibilities and change priorities as needed.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including understanding of complex investment concepts.
  • Broad knowledge of NAIC, SEC, and IRS rules and regulations.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Requires strong computer skills in Bloomberg Analytics, FactSet, TMS systems (i.e., Kyriba) and Microsoft Access, Excel and Word.
