Job Purpose
The Associate Infrastructure Manager in Isle of Man is responsible for cost management, system integration, compliance, disaster recovery co-ordination, local project implementation and staff management to meet business requirements.

Management of a team of 5 staff providing guidance and direction to ensure the team is meeting the service requirements of the organisation. To provide guidance and direction to the team and to ensure the team is appropriately staffed and adequately resourced with the tools required to complete their job.

Risk responsibility related to compliance and DR to ensure associated controls are effectively managed and tested on an ongoing basis, with additional responsibility regarding the tactical and future direction of DR to support changing business needs. Focus on ongoing budget and spend to ensure that expenses are kept in line with budget currently 1.5 million. Ongoing review of the health of the infrastructure to recommend and support upgrades as required including budget and ordering.

What you'll do
  • Manage the infrastructure team setting objectives, completing annual reviews and one to ones for all team members. Provides support for career development through execution of PDP's
  • Provides leadership, development support and guidance for the infrastructure team.
  • Develops, manages to, and reports on budgets related to the assigned area of responsibility. Budgets include unit cost analysis and reporting, responsible for purchasing all IoM infra related items.
  • Ensures the health, standards, capacity, and performance of the technology platforms is maintained in line with the architectural roadmaps and enterprise standards
  • Ensures timely and effective response to applicable Audits and CEO/CFO compliance requirements. Any findings are risk managed and resolved in agreed timeframes with Risk and Compliance.
  • Manges the change agenda to ensure that all changes are compliant with the process and to minimise impact to services.
  • Plans and Implements the required Disaster recovery Infrastructure Strategy for IoM business including the annual DR test.
  • Provides management guidance and direction serving as a sponsor on projects
  • Builds and maintains professional working relationships, with I.S. and Corporate leaders from all I.S. supported corporations.
  • To ensure that all current departmental procedures are appropriately documented and continuously reviewed to ensure ongoing improvement.
  • Ensure risks are captured for all activities (change/run), mitigating actions identified and full engagement with the risk framework.
Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills
  • Strong IT, people management, project management and technical leadership experience is required
  • Expertise in one or more of the technical domains Microsoft Windows/ Intel / Unix / AS400 / Linux.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams or projects
  • Strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate in the areas of responsibility
  • Broad knowledge of current trends, emerging technologies, technology directions including the ability to differentiate between a relevant trend and hype
  • Ability to improve operational efficiency, strategic alignment, service delivery and information management across the IT organization
  • Ability to design strong controls and processes and manage them effectively
  • Strong knowledge of the infrastructure estate. A technical understanding of the different infrastructure components.
