The Role: Associate Director, Content Acquisition & Rights Management
The Associate Director, Content Acquisition & Rights Management (CARM) will support the centralized and growing function responsible for providing guidance on third-party data usage. This role will provide actionable insights to internal colleagues to ensure the use of 3rd party content and services contracts meets the needs of our businesses and fall within existing terms and conditions. The Rights Management team manages this function across the S&P Global enterprise. This position reports into the Director of Rights Management within CARM.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform rights of use analyses including:
    • Work on rights management reviews of existing and prospective 3rd party data and services vendor agreements
    • Evaluating, recommending and documenting if S&P has right to reuse, redistribute, and/or reformat market data which is being purchased by third party vendors.
    • Defining and documenting the scope & limits of S&P's use and reuse of such assets.
    • Assessing and documenting rights & restrictions involved in an agreement and analyzing associated risks in using the data/service as per users intended scope of usage
  • Perform accurate and timely documentation of rights management analysis in rights management tools. Identify and appropriately escalate any problem areas that arise.
  • Create general and/or complex reports for rights management analysis. Work with manager to establish reporting processes and procedures.
  • Use AI tools for contract analytics and champion continuous review and assessment of technologies available in the market which can enhance efficacy and efficiency for the rights management processes utilized by the CARM team.
  • Assist in creating and sustaining systems and processes to further operationalize the rights management function at S&P Global to make rights management a transparent, leverage-able, business enabler and a partner to internal stakeholders.
  • Work on the rights management component of our data catalog, ensuring it is accurate and updated regularly.
  • Collaborate with Strategy, M&A and Partnerships.
  • Abide by CARM operational standards and protocol and ensure compliance with global standard methodologies
  • Assist in data quality assurance of the contents of the rights management analyses.
  • Leverage and ensure quality of data in CARM's inventory tracking system (TRG's Optimize Spend product) including accurate and timely data entry of usage rights details into the inventory system.
  • Identify opportunities to better document workflows, projects and documentation in a centralized medium. Work with manager for mentorship on execution.
  • Forge solid relationships with all key internal stakeholders and understand their products, content and business needs.
  • Champion and support CARM's internal communication strategy by creating and delivering e-mails, presentations, blog posts, etc. which spotlight the effectiveness of the team.
  • Meet with business stakeholders and vendors, review news and periodicals, attend training and events to continuously grow and evolve knowledgebase of S&P's products and services, S&P's 3rd party vendor partners, and the overall financial information and market data industry.
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required with 7+ years relevant experience focused on financial information/market data vendor relationship management and overall market data management.
  • Strong project management and technological acumen.
  • Attention to detail, follow-through on projects and ability to manage different initiatives at the same time is necessary.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge of financial information and market data industry - including about various vendors and products available in the marketplace.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong customer focus with demonstrable ability to be highly responsive and present solutions to requests and issues. CARM is a centralized business support team and function, and all business stakeholders within the firm are our customers.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint. This position will frequently work within Excel for reporting, PowerPoint for presentations, SharePoint for information storage and Outlook for mail & calendar.
  • Comfortable reviewing processes and testing new technologies that can increase automation or efficiencies.
  • Must have strong customer focus with demonstrated ability to be highly responsive and present solutions to requests and issues.
  • Comfortable liaising with internal stakeholders and external vendors at a variety of levels.
  • Solid presentation and writing skills with ability to influence.
  • Must be highly organized and self-directed with the ability to work autonomously and adapt to change.
  • Experience with contract analyzer software a plus.
  • FISD Market Data certification (FIA) a plus.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $ 79.6k - $145k. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
