The Head of Banking Product Control is a critical role that helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Financials of the Banking Business. Banking is one of the two major pillars of the Corporate and Investment banking business that combines Advisory, Equities Capital Markets, the Debt Syndicate Business and Portfolio Management. The Business is generating an excess of $4bn of revenue per annum mostly in the form of fee income.

The primary responsibility of the candidate is to ensure the control of the integrity of the Financials associated with the Banking business. This will require understanding, supporting and helping define the strategic operating model and the technological infrastructure that underlines the production and delivery of Financial information. The candidate will actively and frequently interact with internal partners globally, within a wide range of functional areas and importantly with the Front Office deal teams. The role also involves successful representation of Product Control with key stakeholders in the regulatory and internal and external audit domain.

key responsibilities

• Oversee and review integrity of financials for the Banking Business
• Monitor and drive plans to achieve successful completion of critical daily and monthly processes per agreed deadlines and to agreed quality and standards
• Ensure appropriate set of controls are in place and sustainable
• Provide strong qualitative information, analysis and commentary on business performance
• Put the business performance in the context of external reporting and competitor analysis
• Help analyse business performance in the context of budget (MTP, STP) and stress testing
• Understand key aspects of revenue recognition
• Understand valuation aspects of transaction inclusive of impairment
• Ensure adherence to Accounting Policy
• Communicate and implement global and local Finance and Product Control strategy
• Develop long term goals within own functional area to align with the Finance and Product Control objectives and strategy.
• Form an integral part of local Finance and Product Control leadership which helps define and influence long -term strategy

Ideally you will already be operating at the equivalent Director level in a peer institution. And will have had exposure to the IBD/banking business. However candidates with relevant experience from a derivative desk will be considered providing the right level of seniority and motivation is there.
