The Capital Markets Group is seeking a results-oriented individual to be a part of its team.  The job role will execute daily treasury operations with a focus on money market instruments to optimize funding mix and funding cost ensuring adequate levels of liquidity are maintained and are aligned with the overall debt management strategy.

The Money Market Trader is a critical member of the Capital Markets Group and actively contributes to the planning, analysis and execution of the Province’s debt, risk management, corporate finance activities. In this role, you will evaluate opportunities and strategies using a strong understanding of financial markets and instruments, financial modeling techniques and market research.
 

You will execute short-term debt transactions on behalf of the Province and its crown agencies with a focus on domestic (CAD) as well as the US Dollar Market. You will also support the Department on corporate finance projects, such as public-private partnerships, as necessary.
 

You will be accountable for the following:
•    Contribute to the Department of Finance’s goal of maintaining the lowest cost of financing among Canadian provinces.  
•    Participate in the ongoing management of the debt portfolio for the Province and the municipal loan program
•    Contribute to special projects taken on by the Treasury Management Division to serve other units of Alberta Finance and other Departments within the Government. 
 

As the ideal candidate, you will bring experience that demonstrates your strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will also understand the importance of building relationships and value a collaborative approach. Our small team of 5 works together to achieve solutions. We are flexible and we are driven to collaborate through change. In total, there are 2 Money Market Traders who report to and are supported by the Senior Manager, Trading and Derivatives.

 

The key to this role will be your ability to communicate. Your success will be dependent on your ability to be clear and concise with your communications, as well as your ability to build business relationships. Your role will be driven by the dialogues that you have with your stakeholders.
