About BlackRock Alternative Investors

Charged with establishing BlackRock as clients' preeminent partner in alternative investing globally, BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) is one of the top five largest alternative asset managers in the world today. We are active in all asset classes and connect them in ways other firms can't match, operating on an integrated platform consisting of real estate, infrastructure, credit, private equity and hedge funds. Our scale means we offer expertise and access unique to BlackRock, and you'll collaborate with teams across our firm in unexpected ways. As part of a key growth engine for the firm, you'll be invited to continue building the platform that is shaping the future of Alts investing by inventing and evolving innovative investment ideas and tech solutions on a team that continuously outperforms - setting new standards.

Grow your career with the firm that's building tomorrow's alternatives platform, backed by a purpose that drives positive outcomes for our clients, our investments and the communities we serve.

BlackRock Alternative Advisors (" BAA ") comprises BlackRock's hedge fund solutions platform. With over $30 billion under management, BAA provides hedge fund solutions and hedge fund oriented co-investments to a broad array of institutional clients through commingled and custom fund structures.

BAA's hedge fund solutions product offerings encompass numerous investment strategies, product structures, and regulatory environments. This presents a multitude of complexities related to product structuring, portfolio implementation, trading & financing infrastructure, operating models, portfolio compliance, internal support teams & technology systems, and external counterparties & service providers.

Since 2006, BAA has managed various co-investment programs designed to provide clients exposure to direct co-investments sourced primarily through third party managers underlying BAA's hedge fund platform. Through opportunistic investment mandates, co-investments span public and private markets and include debt, equity and derivative exposures. BAA's co-investment portfolios require support including management of transaction review by BAA stakeholder support teams, as well as investment allocation, structuring, consummation, & settlement.

The BAA Core Portfolio Management team ("Core PM") is responsible for implementing investment decisions across BAA's hedge fund solutions and co-investment portfolios, while also providing oversight of BAA's governance model and adherence to BlackRock best practices. Core PM is expected to understand at a detailed level the trading and asset management capabilities of BlackRock's proprietary systems, and adapt those capabilities to BAA's business needs. Core PM contributes to enhanced scalability and efficiency of managing client assets, and contributes to a stronger control environment in which operating risk is managed and minimized.

BAA is seeking a dedicated professional to join its Core PM team.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with BAA's Research, Risk, Operational Due Diligence, Product Specialist, and Business Management teams on a variety of business initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key BlackRock operational professionals ( e.g ., legal, tax, trading operations, portfolio compliance, pricing, cash reconciliations, bank loans, derivative operations and fund administration)
  • Partner with BAA's Portfolio Managers on investment implementation & execution including limited capacity allocation, cash management, and interfund transfers.
  • Partner with investment team deal leads and internal support teams to manage execution-related aspects of co-investment transactions; manage completion of pre-trade checklists
  • Anticipate and resolve operational issues ( e.g ., trade execution, settlement, portfolio compliance, hedging, etc.) arising during the investment evaluation process
  • Serve as an escalation point for operational teams to provide direction during investment execution
  • Assist with the execution of portfolio manager investment decisions by managing trade orders with BlackRock trading desks
  • Assist with project management related to the structural and operational components of product launches and ongoing product management
  • Assist with establishing trading & financing infrastructure for new and existing products through coordination with internal teams, external hedge fund managers, and financing counterparties
  • Develop an understanding of the beginning-to-end of various investment management functions, particularly the requirements & implications for upstream & downstream stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development & implementation of scalable processes & operating models through the use of available technologies and through coordination with multiple internal teams; create process documentation

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Outstanding academic credentials
  • High energy level with a sense of urgency and action-oriented approach
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the appropriate level of confidence and assertiveness
  • Knowledge of security instruments and capital markets
  • Experience and understanding of the trade execution and settlement process across multiple security types
  • Attention to detail
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude for proactive rather than reactive thinking
