Ontario Power Generation (OPG), which is wholly owned by the Province of Ontario, is a global climate change leader and the largest, most diverse electricity generator in the province of Ontario. It is Ontario’s largest clean energy generator, producing almost half of the electricity used by Ontarians every day – all at a significantly lower cost than other producers. Together, OPG and its family of companies are helping lead the charge to a post-carbon economy. Within this context, OPG is now searching for a Managing Director of Public Markets.

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), the Managing Director of Portfolio Strategy & Investment Risk is responsible for the management and oversight of the risk exposures in OPG’s Pension Fund and co-management and oversight of the Ontario Nuclear Funds, recommending and advising on the Fund’s optimal asset and risk allocation necessary to achieve the Funds’ objectives.

The Managing Director, Portfolio Strategy & Investment Risk is responsible for advising on risk management and risk reporting to the senior leadership team including the CIO, Investment Committee, Investment Funds Risk Oversight Committee, and the Board of Directors. They will be a key contributor to the development and execution of OPG’s strategic asset allocation decisions, asset/liability management strategies, and its alternative asset investment strategy and will work closely with external service providers, overseeing many of their contractual deliverables.

As the ideal candidate, you have demonstrated success in a leadership role driving performance and leading in a dynamic environment. You have a strong understanding of capital markets and leading portfolio management practices, and the ability to quickly establish credibility, confidence and trust both internally and with external partners. You generate ideas to solve problems, take advantage of opportunities, and execute those ideas with excellence in collaboration with others. Your strong verbal and written communication skills enable you to relate complex concepts to key stakeholders across the organization effectively.

To apply for this position, please submit your application and related materials to rburkholder@boyden.com prior to June 3, 2022 and state the title of the position in the subject line of your e-mail. We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those under consideration for the role will be contacted.

OPG is an equal opportunities employer committed to accelerating equity, celebrating diversity, and fostering a culture of inclusion in today’s energy workforce. If you require accommodation during the application or interview process, please advise us as soon as possible so appropriate arrangements can be made.
