About our client
Our client is a newly-formed renewables investment platform, backed by one of the world's largest institutional fund managers and a leading, global commodity trading company.

The firm is looking for an experienced ESG Manager, to support the investment team and work across the firm and portfolio on the development and implementation of ESG strategies and reporting processes to ensure that the firm meets industry standards. The individual will have a high level of technical expertise, a commercial mindset, and the ability to manage projects and work across the firm with different teams and external stakeholders, including investors.
What the job involves
  • Creation of the relevant ESG practices necessary for the sustainable development of projects and across the investment lifecycle
  • Ad hoc support to the investment team, considering the ESG associated risks and opportunities throughout the process lifecycle; from due diligence to exit
  • Support investment teams on the implementation of sustainability strategies, including providing technical guidance and expertise
  • Collaborate with sustainability and financial services industry experts to manage investor relations
  • Aggregate and analyse ESG data from companies in the portfolio and work with each company to ensure strong data quality
  • Identify key ESG trends and present to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide direct support to the portfolio companies/project SPV's regarding their ESG strategies
  • Preparation of annual sustainability report
  • Develop and deliver high-quality community engagement implementation plans, with the support of the communities team
  • Coordinate and build positive relationships with external consultants and contractors
  • Encourage the learning and development needs of colleagues
Who we are looking for
  • This role will suit an individual with ESG experience within the energy sector, particularly renewables
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability with a background in consultancy, private equity, or banking
  • Experience in leading ESG reporting and regulatory initiatives e.g., TCFD, SFDR, UNPRI
  • Deep knowledge of ESG reporting and the overall regulatory landscape, with a focus on how it relates to investment management regarding EU and UK regulation
  • Commercially-minded with an ability to identify emerging trends and understand the regulatory framework the company is operating in
  • Strong report writing and verbal skills and ability to communicate complex ideas
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Must show tenacity, high level of commitment and ambition with a strong desire and flexibility to travel
