About this role

This is a new role responsible for developing and implementing a content strategy across BlackRock's active fund business to support our global growth. Partnering directly with investment, marketing, and distribution teams, he or she will lead a new effort that sources and produces thought-provoking content in modern formats. The goal is to deliver the full breadth of our investment expertise in new and exciting ways to our existing and potential clients across channels. Crucial to this role will be the ability to orchestrate progressive content creation techniques, as well as coordination across all BlackRock active investment teams, and partnership with marketing channel owners for scaled distribution.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Form a close partnership with stakeholders and content creators across one of BlackRock's active engines, the Portfolio Management Group (PMG), to influence content ideation and development, with an eye towards creative execution
  • Work closely with these teams on the curation of content and be their single-entry point into Global marketing and distribution teams from a content perspective to ensure effective and scaled distribution
  • Work with BlackRock's relationship managers in distribution teams to identify the content needed to create value for specific client types (C-suite, fund buyers, financial advisors, etc.), and funnel this information to content creators within PMG
  • Create a framework for delivering the content assets needed by marketing colleagues to distribute effectively
  • Identify and create original content that is absent, but would be of value for our clients
  • Own and maintain a PMG-wide content calendar to enable effective execution of the content strategy
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the key investment views, themes, and commercial opportunities that are a priority of the active business
  • Continuously look to add further value through content and evolve the content strategy and rationalize editorial priorities through diligent analysis of content metrics


Skills and experience required:
  • 6+ years of experience in working in a content or product role within financial services
  • Expert in the art of creating engaging, but substantive, short form copy, and understanding of the power of storytelling
  • Confidence to challenge how things are done to ensure continuous innovation and optimization of the team's strategy
  • Excellent project management skills, including an ability to exert influence and move projects forward in a complex environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to excel in a fast-paced environment where deliverables may change as the strategy evolves
  • Broad understanding of the asset management industry, investment concepts across asset classes and capital market / macroeconomic trends
