The Manager Research team in MASS is looking for a quantitative researcher focused on the development of proprietary signal generation and statistical analysis for manager selection. In this role you will join a high profile, successful, fast - growing and multifaceted business that will provide exposure to BlackRock and third-party investment managers, as well as interaction with BlackRock investment teams across client segments.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary job responsibility is to focus on data analysis, proprietary signal generation and back-testing based on internal and external datasets relevant for manager research. The role also requires and ability to manage projects across technology teams and communicate research to non-quantitative stakeholders.

The candidate will be responsible for:
  • Data exploration and visualization of both internal and external/vendor datasets that are relevant to manager selection and blending in a portfolio context.
  • Building, prototyping, and backtesting signals in the research statistical computing environment (Python)
  • Communicating with non-quant researchers to design signals to enhance qualitative processes and answer research questions using quantitative techniques.
  • Collaborating with other quantitative researchers within BlackRock to co-create research output for use by Manager Research.
  • Managing projects and stakeholders within Aladdin technology teams to productionalize research into user-friendly applications.
  • Presenting research findings and insights to internal research approval meetings and promoting to client- about relevant research.


Skills and Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field (Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or similar) or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience dealing with financial datasets and leveraging econometric/statistical techniques to conduct high quality empirical research.
  • Able to communicate quantitative information and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders (both developers and non-developers) preferred.
  • Solid programming skills in Python and a drive and ability to quickly pick up new technologies.
