Position Overview
West Oak is seeking a full-time Trader & Portfolio Analyst in Calgary, AB to join our growing family office investment management practice.
Trader & Portfolio Analyst
- Collaborate with investment management committee on research, development and deployment of proprietary equity and fixed income investment models
- Determine tax efficient and cost-efficient deployment of investment strategies for entire client base of high-net-worth households
- Build, compile and execute large volumes of equity and fixed income trades daily as determined by capital inflows and outflows for entire client base
- Quarterly rebalancing of proprietary quantitative investment models across entire client base
- Execution of Asset Allocation shifts across entire client base
Key Responsibilities
- Daily monitoring of capital movements and transactions for all client portfolios
- Determine optimal tactical asset allocation across accounts for all households
- Organizing and building trade lists
- Fixed income and equity trade execution on large volumes of high value trades
- Collaborate with investment management committee at weekly meetings
- Monitoring market prices and conditions
Position Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience with at least two years of trading equity, fixed income, FX, derivatives
- Excellent attention to detail
- An ability to maintain composure and communicate effectively in high-stress situations
- Working within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
- Mastery of the Microsoft Tools suite, specifically Excel
- Registered with IIROC as a Licensed Associate or Associate Portfolio Manager
- Completion of CSC and / or CPH
- CFA (preferred)
- Experience using
- Bloomberg
- Thomson One
- Bulk trading systems
Nice to have
- Competence in data science programming language (Python, SQL, JavaScript)

Job Type:

Pay:
- Commensurate with experience with semi-annual bonuses based on asset growth, trading accuracy, and investment management results
- Ownership potential in Wellington Altus Private Wealth (WAPW)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 7:30AM – 3:30PM
Conditions of employment:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
